Rosalie Solace (1967)

I dropped onto my bed, whining as Darlene closed my dorm door. She sat on a desk that was
temporarily unused. Temporarily. At first, Darlene, and Bailey thought it wouldn't be used at all. Now, the new student will be coming to this school later today and will take the other side of the dorm.
"Bailey said she'd stay in her bed for the rest of the day," Darlene informed me, "She said she felt too tired and sick."
Bailey has been sick since Monday, now it's Saturday. I sat up on my bed, facing towards Darlene. Darlene was flipping through a dark sea blue book that didn't have a name on the cover.
"What's the book about?" I asked Darlene, "It must be really interesting if it's a book you're willing to read on your own time."
Darlene rolled her eyes, putting a bookmark where she left off. "It's a book about some girl who dies and reincarnates as a sparrow," Darlene smiled, closing the book, "She's trying to find out how she turned into a bird and why she turned into a bird."
Turned into a bird? What bird would I be if I turned into one? Probably one that is known to observe a lot of things.
"That sounds boring," I lied, stretching out my arms.
Darlene rolled her eyes again, "What do you want to do?"
I looked around the room. There was nothing to do. We would usually be at class right now but it's the weekend. We also don't study unless it's a school day. We can't go outside and walk, we have to wait for the headmistress to bring the new student here so we can show her around.
Darlene said she'd help me show them around because she wanted Bailey to rest so she could get better.
"There's nothing to do," I sighed, sitting at my desk.
"We could practice magic?" Darlene suggested, placing her book in the corner of her desk.
"We're not allowed to practice magic unless a teacher is present," I responded.
I know I'm such a party pooper. But hey, if you knew your actions could potentially kill someone, you wouldn't take that risk either. Otherwise, you're some crazy lunatic who meant to hurt someone.
"What they don't know won't hurt them," Darlene said, leaning back in her chair.
"Rosalie!" A voice yelled before knocking on the door.
Darlene got up from her seat and opened the door. The headmistress, Celeste, was standing in front of the entrance with a girl next to her. The girl had brown eyes, if you were to see them in the light, they'd be a dark red. She had brown wavy hair that went down to her elbows.
"Rosalie Solace," Ms Celeste smiled, "This is the new student that you will be showing around the school."
The new girl waved at me, smiling. "I'm Amira Mavros," Amira said.
"This is Darlene Ren," I said, pointing at Darlene, "I'm Rosalie Solace."
Amira nodded her head slightly, turning towards Ms Celeste as she left.
"What are you?" Darlene asked Amira.
What kind of rude questions is that!?
"I mean what 'mystical bean' do you happen to be," Darlene corrected herself after seeing me glare at her.
"I'm a vampire," Amira responded with a light smile.
Weird. I never actually met a vampire, even though there are a lot of them in the school. The school separates kids by classes but not by dorms. I'm surprised I've never met one that just happened to be lurking around.
"That's so cool," Darlene Squealed, "I've never met a vampire, they take school days at night... Wait, why are you taking morning classes?"
"My mom gave me a gem that allowed me to withstand sunlight," Amira responded.
Darlene nodded her head, "Well, you can unpack then we will show you around the school."
Amira nodded her head, finally walking into the dorm room. She dragged a dark red suitcase behind her.

"This is our Alchemist class," I informed Amira, "This was chosen as your extra class because it doesn't require magic. But you have to be careful with the ingredients you add."
Amira nods her head, letting us know we can move on. I closed the door of the empty classroom, walking next to Amira. Darlene was on the other side of Amira, looking annoyed.
"The last place we need to show you is the lunch facility," I smiled, pushing open double doors, and stepping into the lunch facility.
Even though there weren't any kids in the classroom, there still were kids in the lunch facility. If I were lying, I'd say it didn't look like some kind of zoo. We watched as a redhead girl tossed bread bits at someone; A Brunette-haired boy was horse playing with a blonde-haired boy; Two girls were arguing back and forth; A bird was flying across the room; and kids were mixing random foods.
"This is the type of school day you go through?" Amira asked, stepping back as two short girls with glass clear wings ran past her.
"Oh no, we eat in the library," I responded, "I only eat here during dinner. That's when teachers are around to keep the kids in order."
Amira nodded her head slightly, looking at our peers before turning around.
"The rest of the day is a free day," I told Amira, "So we can show you where we hang out."
"Cool," Amira smiled as she followed me and Darlene out of the room.

"So you guys just decided you wanted to go outside... and they let you?" Amira asked, kicking her feet forward.
We had brought her to the flower field, where Darlene, Bailey, Blake, and I hung out. There was a swing set for 6 people in the middle of it, so we could sit on the swing while looking out into the grass and flowers.
"Not at night, no," Darlene said to Amira, answering her question, "We usually would sneak out then."
Amira looked down at her shoes, I couldn't tell what she was thinking. The amount of times her facial expressions had changed was confusing for me. Me and Darlene exchanged glances, we both were equally confused.
"Your guy's friend group seems strong," Amira stated, stepping off the swing, "I think I should head to the dorm, I want to practice a bit of what I'm learning."
"I'll go with you," I said, walking up to her, "Maybe we could study together."
I turned towards Darlene, and she rolled her eyes and jumped off of her swing. "Yeah, I can go bother Blake. He's probably playing some sport with his other friends," Darlene sighed, stretching out her arms.
"Alright," Amira responded, "Come on, Rosalie."
I followed Amira as she walked towards the entrance of the school. Before I walked into the building, I turned towards Darlene, she was walking the opposite way from where we were going. I hope she's not mad. I continued walking with Amira, her eyes had roamed the room as she kept an expressionless face. What was this girl thinking!?
"Rosalie?" I heard a familiar voice say.
Even though that voice was familiar, I didn't like it. I slowly turned towards the person, seeing Dalia. Dalia White's. She had a smirk on her face, as she leaned on the wall. Dalia was annoying, she tried to find a way to humiliate me. 3 weeks ago she spilled chocolate milk in my shoes and with 4 hours left of school I walked around in wet shoes. Not to mention, my sock was stained a light brown.
   "Quite?" Dalia asked, "You scared?"
Scared? That's an interesting way to put it. I placed my hands behind my back, stepping away from her.
"So you are scared?" Dalia snickered, "Scared of my next move?"
Wow, she's acting like making someone miserable puts her at the top of the world. Dalia had dark brown eyes. Her curly blonde hair was in a high ponytail, reaching down to her elbows.
"I think you should leave her alone," Amira said, "We have something more important to do than dealing with your nonsense."
I had forgotten that Amira was behind me. Dalia was more surprised than I was, she was looking at Amira with disgust.
"I'm sorry. Who are you?" Dalia Scorned.
"She's new," I answered, "We will get going. Goodbye, Dalia."
Before I could see Dalia's reaction, I took Amira's hand and walked off. I refuse to let this problem be bigger than it already is.
"Let's not talk about the situation that just happened," I told Amira, letting go of her hand, "If Darlene finds out what happened, she's going to get kicked out of school."
"Is she going to fight the girl?" Amira asked, walking after me.
"Most definitely," I responded, walking upstairs, "It'd be her third strike."
"Okay," Amira responded, "It'll be between me and you... and that girl."
I stopped walking, after we hit the top of the stairs, turning towards Amira. "Yeah," I said, "Her name is Dalia. She's mad because I beat her score on the maze."
Amira knew what the maze was, I showed her where it was located. She also knew that she had been in there for a shorter time than everyone else which made me have a high score.
"Oh," Amira said, with the same confusing facial expression.
