Peace Out, Girl Scouts

~Kate~

When Axel finally returned I gladly threw myself at him.

Axel stiffened a moment before wrapping his arms around me. I sobbed quietly into his shirt. Austin was sprawled out on the couch. He had spared us a look however, when Axel came in. "What's wrong darling?"

"I wanna go home." I whimpered into his chest. "Please. Let's go home."

"I know it's a lot darling," Axel said softly, running his hands over my back. "But don't worry. He's going to be put to death by my hands in the morning, publicly, along with that little bastard."

My breath hitched. Kill a pup? But why? "Axel--" I began only to be cut off by Austin.

"What about the omega?"

"He's too old to try and remate and plus he can't bear any more children so we're trying to see if we can exchange him to the whore house for some vouchers. But even they don't want him. He's too old."

"Axel." I said sharply, earning me a look. "You can't hurt the pup!"

"You wouldn't understand," replied Axel with a roll of his eyes. "Besides, I don't want to argue. Let's go home, hm darling?"

"I--no! Axel, listen to me!"

Axel gave me a sharp look. "Enough Colton. We can talk when we get home." He looked at Austin. "Thank you for keeping an eye on him. Everything went okay, yes?"

"Fine. For you mate at least." Austin replied with a dry chuckle. Oh, how I hated him. "Have a good evening, Alpha."

"And you as well."

He led me stiffly outside, spinning me around to glare at me. "What the hell's wrong with you, Colton? You never disobey me--especially in front of someone as affluent as him."

"He beat Dawson!" I exclaimed. There was so much spinning through my head. There was so much I needed to tell him...

"And? The omega is his property. Besides, I'm sure he deserved it."

"You're a bastard."

My cheek stung sharply as he slapped me. I felt tears weld in my eyes. "I hate you," I snarled. "You're cruel and you're weak."

Axel's eyes lit up with fury as he shook me violently. "Keep it up and I'll fucking end you. Understand, Colton?"

I just shook my head. I wanted to be with my family. I wanted to hold my pup once more. But instead I had this inconsiderate asshole who I unfortunately loved. I couldn't help it. "I'm sorry."

Why did I have to be so damn weak? Axel crushed me against his chest. "I know you're upset and I know you're still adjusting. It's a lot, I know. I'm sorry if I'm be harsh with you it's just... There's a lot going on right now, okay?"

"But-but the pup--"

"Sh. You're probably exhausted. Let's go home, hm? I'll have someone drop off some food and we can take a nice long bath and calm down. I could do with a solid night of sleep--and so could you."

I was exhausted, yes, but this was important to me. "Can we talk in the bath?" I finally asked as we started home.

It was getting dark. The sunset was lit up brightly. It was beautiful but...there was far too much weighing on my mind to appreciate it. "If we must, darling." replied Axel with a sigh.
