I've felt very strange for the past few days after that nightmare. I am constantly on the look out for anyone who could be responsible, turning my head every couple minutes when I'm walking down the halls and in class. I'm sure some people have thought I looked crazy. Well, they've always thought that, so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for others.
The weird thing is that I couldn't recognize the voice. It was semi-muffled, sort of deep. I wasn't sure if it was a man or woman. If it was somebody I knew. Somebody I'm close with.
I feel like someone's watching me like a hawk watches its prey, ready to snatch me up and kill me any second.
I will admit, I love the thrill, but I can't imagine the pain Enid will suffer if something does happen to me. That's all that matters to me. I've been researching about love and relationships, going to the library almost every day. I need to stop putting my fucked up needs before Enid. I have to have a perspective. It's been extremely difficult. I have never felt emotions like this before, let alone show it. My care for Enid is immense and I want to give her everything she desires, her needs, her interests.
I walk down the hallways of Nevermore with Enid by my side. She seems to be her normal self, which I'm glad about. At least she isn't worried about me. I managed to convince her that nothing was wrong. Our pinky fingers are interlaced. I have yet to feel comfortable fully holding her hand because I don't want anyone knowing that we are together yet, not that I care about what people think, but putting her in danger if the anonymous person wants to hurt my Enid as well. I love pain, but even I don't think I could bear that.
We arrive at the quad and Enid drags me to sit with her friends. I exhale greatly. In all honesty I did not have the social energy to be talking to anyone else but Enid.
"Hey girlies!" She says excitedly as she sits down. I sit down closely next to her. I noticed Yoko eyeing Enid and I back and forth. "She is a lot closer to you than usual." Yoko says. I glare at her and she puts her hands up like I was about to arrest her. "What do you mean? She's always this close." Enid responds. I continue to give Yoko a death glare and she just shrugs. "Nevermind that. So, what's been going on with you guys? Anything new?" I froze and my breathing stopped, praying to Satan that Enid won't spill that we're together. "Nah." Is all she says. I sigh in relief. "Really? Nothing at all?" Yoko asks once more. I can feel myself get warm and look at Enid. "Mmm, no. Just studying. Tests are coming up." Enid responds casually. She's really good at lying. It's very attractive. "Nice. And you, Wens?" I tense up and furrow my eyebrows. "Don't call me that." I tell her firmly. "What, but Enid can call you that though?" I hear Enid chuckling. "That's different." Is all I respond with. The vampire shrugs. "Well," She begins, wrapping her arm around Divina. "Me and Div are gonna go to Jericho after school. You guys up for it?" I obviously do not want to go, but I look at Enid for a response. "Sure! That sounds fun!" Enid exclaimed. Of course, I will follow her around like a tame dog, which is ironic because Enid is the dog here. Literally.
"Great! I'll go to your dorm around 6?" Yoko asks. Enid nods and smiles.
They continued talking for a bit until Enid finally decided to go to class, me following along beside her. Luckily, we were in this class together and we sat right next to each other. However, I found a piece of folded paper on my side of the table.
"You're dead, Addams."
I froze.
Enid moves closer to me and leans into my ear. "What's that?" She whispers. I blink a few times before unfreezing and looking at her. "It's nothing. Just something stupid someone wrote. They probably thought a friend sat here or something." I say before quickly folding the paper and putting it in my bag, then sitting down. Enid slowly nods in suspicion before sitting down as well.
