Author's POV.

The kitchen of Chaudary house was like always, filled with chatters.

"Umama!" Jamila shouted.

"G mama?" Umama almost immediately walked in and asked.

"Jao Appi ko utha kar aao. University nahi jana us ne?" Jamila spoke.

"Ammi uthaya tha lekin wo uthi hi nahi." Umama replied.

Jamila looked at her in horror and so did everyone else.

"Beta. Kal sham se wo nahi uthi. Dimagh theek hai tumhara?" Jamila said with furrowed eyebrows.

"Mein kiya karoon mama. Nahi uthin wo." Umama said. She wasn't getting it.

"Uff Allah. Ye larki theek bhi hai ke nahi?' Jamila ran outside.

Umama looked at her retreating figure in confusion.

"Bat ki thi usne tumse?" Kalsoom asked in a concerned tone.

Umama looked at her only to find Zulaikha and her just inches away from her face.

She smiled nervously," Han tayi Ammi. Itni baten sunayin hain unho ne mujhe."

Kalsoom and Zulaikha sighed in relief.

Meanwhile, Jamila walked inside Eman and Umama's room only to find her all curled up in a blanket.

"Eman beta..Kiya Howa hai?" Jamila asked while walking to her.

Eman sniffled but didn't reply.

"Allah! Tumhara matha to jal Raha hai." Jamila said in worry.

"Bukhar kab hogaya hai tumhe?" Jamila sat besides her. Eman opened her eyes and whimpered.

"Mammaaa....sone den na." She spoke in a grumpy tone and then coughed shortly after.

"Eman. Itna sakht bukhar hai tumhe...bataya kiyon nahi tumne, han?" Jamila scolded.

Eman whined. Why was her mother scolding her in her sickness too? Is every other desi mother like this too?

Time skip~

"Aj Eman ne nahi jana university?" Mubashir asked. He was the one who usually drops her off in the morning.

"Fever hai usko, Bhai." Ayesha replied with a sigh and placed his tea on the table.

"Fever?" Bilal spoke to which she hummed.

Saad rolled his eyes.

Drama karrahi ho gi yaqeenan.

"Ek din kam karke fever bhi hogaya?" Saba chuckled thinking of it to be a joke.

Omair stared at her in disbelief. This household has no mouth filter at all.

Next evening ~

Eman's fever had not settled down yet. She was really sick and vomiting here and there.

Saad was sitting in the lounge watching  a match when he heard distant chatters from the stairs.

He is kind of a nosy person so he sneaked a peek, only to find Eman with her and his mother and they both were scolding her for something while she was sneering.

He rolled his eyes and turned around.

"Mein ne nahi jana hospital." Eman whined.

"Subha se vomiting karrahi or hospital nahi jana tum ne?" Jamila replied in a stern tone making her shut up with her whinings.
