Y/N's POV
It had been weeks since the accidental kiss during the sack race scene, and every moment since had felt charged with an electric tension. Even after our BuzzFeed interview, there has been some tensions I couldn't understand. Today, we were diving back into the story, with the crew prepared to shoot a flashback scene where David and Elena were at prom, and I couldn't help but feel the weight of what had happened between us.
As I arrived on set, the atmosphere buzzed with the usual excitement. The crew was bustling around, making final adjustments to the lighting and props. I spotted Emma chatting with the costume designer, her laughter echoing across the room, and I felt a smile creep onto my face. Despite the tension, she always seemed to light up a space.
"Alright, Y/N, Emma! We're starting with the prom flashback scene," the assistant director called, pulling me from my thoughts.
"Let's get in character," I murmured, trying to shake off my nerves as I approached Emma.
"Ready to relive the moment you were dumped in front of everyone?" she teased, a playful glint in her eyes.
"More like ready to be heartbroken again," I shot back, grinning, but my heart raced at the thought. I could hardly believe how real our last scene had felt.
We took our places at the center of the set, adorned with shimmering decorations that screamed high school prom. It was a nostalgic setup, complete with dim lights and cheesy streamers. Today, we'd be capturing the moment when David's world shattered as Elena made the choice to walk away from him.
"Action!" the director called.
/ MOVIE SCENE /
I stepped forward, adopting David's hopeful demeanor. "Elena, you look stunning tonight," I said, offering her a genuine smile as we began to dance. The scene called for a joyous moment, a reminder of their past before everything fell apart.
"Thanks, David. You clean up pretty well yourself," Emma replied, her voice light, embodying the carefree spirit of our characters at that moment.
But just as the scene was supposed to take a romantic turn, I felt the weight of the upcoming dialogue, the words that would change everything. I turned to her, my expression shifting to one of uncertainty. "I've been thinking a lot about us... about what we had."
Emma's smile faltered slightly, her eyes flickering with emotions I couldn't quite place. "David, we've talked about this. I can't keep pretending everything is okay when it's not."
I knew the lines—this was where Elena would break David's heart. But as we moved through the choreography, I couldn't shake the feeling that the words would cut deeper than expected. "But I thought we were happy together. I thought we could make this work again."
Emma's expression hardened, the actress stepping into her character with an intensity that sent chills down my spine. "We were kids, David! We didn't know what love was. And now..." She paused, glancing away for a moment, and I could sense the weight of the unspoken feelings between us.
