Jeno closed his eyes at the memory and drew in a shaky breath through his nose.
How could he have promised that to her knowing that he wanted to kill her father?
Was it that he'd been so tightly strung on getting her to come for him that he would've said anything to her?
But as he thought about this more, Jeno knew that this wasn't it, either.
He really did want to protect her.
No matter how devious Jaehyun was trying to portray her and warn him about letting his guard down, Jeno knew that Eunhye wasn't going to be a threat to him.
Letting out another breath, he opened his eyes to find Jaehyun and a few of their other associates discuss future shipments of narcotics while he had a bunch of legal documents laid out in front of him that he still needed to work through.
Quickly, he gathered them into a pile and placed them inside the briefcase, shutting it close and grabbing his coat.
Jaehyun turned and frowned at him.
"What, you're leaving already?" he asked him, stating the obvious as he watched his brother check the time.
Jeno nodded.
"I forgot some files at the penthouse. I'll be finishing off the contracts there." He explained, and without waiting for a reply, made his way out of Hyunso's house.
He was sure that Jaehyun knew that it was bullshit.
Jeno never forgot anything, and by saying that he was going back to the apartment no less, he was aware that this somewhat was an admission to seeking out Eunhye.
His brother had been attentive to the fact that he'd been doing that of course, giving him a certain look or raising a judgemental brow at him whenever it had become obvious that he was taking more care of Jisung's little sister than he was supposed to.
But at least he wasn't verbalising it.
And for Jeno, as long as Jaehyun wasn't going to go on his nerves and actually say something again, he would allow himself to do what he wanted.
In truth, he was starting to really enjoy having his little wife around.
He'd thought that with having been the eternal bachelor, enjoying a women for one thing only, he would go crazy with having her there constantly.
Though to his surprise, he'd not only become used to her presence, he actually liked her living with him.
Of course, it was not because he loved her.But he did like her company, wanted her safe and most of all, really really enjoyed sleeping with her.
