Fast.
The trees move fast.
I'm running, still I'm running.
Just keep going.
One foot, another foot.
Run.
Another flash of red.
In the trees i can see, they whip past but yet i can see.
I can see but one thing.
The red hair.
It must be an auburn beast, a monster perhaps. It's almost humanoid. My predator.
The thing that chases me.
My foot falls heavily on a sharp stone, carved into by its angles.
Adrenaline disregards it.
I don't stop.
I can't stop.
Father told me i was silly for believing in monsters. He said the real "abnormalities" are humans.
But no human can climb that fast?
Right?
No human would be hunting me down.
Right?
I'm tired.
Keep. Going.
One foot, another, running.
I can't feel my feet. Or my legs. Or the ground travelling oh so fast past my feet.
I feel scared, petrified.
My heat ricochets through my ribcage like a big, loud drum, signalling a great battle.
One foot. Another. One foot.
Keep going.
It's cold.
Hot, salty tears sear through my reddened skin, piercing my eyes, forcing me to lose my vision.
Even half-blind, i must keep running.
One foot. Another. Keep going.
Don't let her get you.
"Oh miss Lila!"
It calls from the trees, mocking me.
It's so much faster than me.
I'm too slow.
The evil, sonorous voice chills my bones. It must be my imagination. It is my Imagination. Surely. It is not human. No human can climb that high.
Right?
Run!
Keep going!
It's there again, my mind playing tricks on me.
" where are you off to so fast?"
I will myself on, not daring to turn to see the perpetrator of these actions. These words.
One foot, one fo-
My ankle rolls hopelessly, sending a rotten log from its resting place flying forward, tumbling down a hill to where it shatters like glass, forgotten into the foliage.
Im moving now too, without my feet. Down, down , down. Time seems to slow as i fall, allowing me a moment to breathe. The cold, damp forest floor finds its way to me, infiltrating my senses. My hair, i can feel the matts of dead leaves, mud and fallen twigs. My nose, i can smell the mud, the pain and suffering this forest floor has caused.
