The days after that walk in the park passed in a strange, almost dreamlike haze. Elena and Ivy had crossed a line, one they couldn't uncross, and now everything between them felt charged, buzzing with unspoken words and barely restrained emotions. They still spent time together—studying, walking through campus, grabbing coffee—but now every touch lingered a little too long, every glance seemed loaded with meaning. But neither of them spoke about what had happened that night. They didn't need to. It was like they were both holding their breath, waiting to see what would happen next.

One evening, about a week after the park, Elena was sprawled out on her bed, her laptop open but ignored as she mindlessly scrolled through messages. She had been trying to focus on her essay, but her thoughts kept drifting to Ivy. They hadn't seen each other for a few days—both caught up in midterms—and she found herself missing her in a way that felt too intense to be normal. Her phone buzzed, and she grabbed it without thinking, her heart skipping a beat when she saw Ivy's name flash across the screen.

Can I come over? Need to get out of my head.

Elena felt a flutter of anticipation as she typed out her response.

Of course, I'm here. Door's open.

Minutes later, there was a soft knock, and Ivy stepped into the room, looking tired but relieved to be there. She dropped her bag by the door and flopped onto the bed beside Elena with a dramatic sigh. "I hate exams," Ivy groaned, burying her face in the pillow.

"Same," Elena said with a chuckle, nudging her gently. "But you're brilliant. You'll survive." Ivy turned her head to look at Elena, a smile tugging at her lips.

"You have way too much faith in me." "I just know you." There was a beat of silence, and Ivy's smile faded as her gaze softened. "You really do." Something shifted in the air, something Elena had felt coming for days but had been too afraid to confront.

They were sitting so close now, closer than they'd ever been, and the weight of unspoken feelings filled the space between them. Elena's heart raced, her mind already jumping ahead to the possibilities of what could happen next, even though she tried to tamp down the rush of hope.

"Ivy..." Elena began, her voice tentative. Ivy turned to face her fully, propping herself up on her elbow.

"Yeah?" Before Elena could gather the courage to speak, Ivy did something unexpected.

She reached out, gently brushing a strand of hair away from Elena's face, her fingers lingering against her skin. The touch was soft, almost hesitant, but it sent a jolt of electricity through Elena's body. Her breath caught in her throat.

"I've been thinking about you," Ivy whispered, her voice barely audible, as if admitting it out loud made it real. Elena swallowed, her chest tightening.

"I've been thinking about you too."

They stared at each other, the air between them thick with tension. Elena could feel her heart pounding, every nerve in her body on high alert.

This was it—the moment they had been dancing around for weeks, the one she had imagined over and over. And now that it was here, she wasn't sure what to do next. But Ivy didn't wait. Slowly, carefully, she leaned in, her eyes never leaving Elena's. And then, before Elena could process what was happening, Ivy kissed her.

It was soft at first, tentative, as if testing the waters. But as soon as Elena kissed her back, something shifted. Ivy's hand cupped Elena's cheek, pulling her closer, and suddenly the kiss deepened, becoming something more urgent, more real. Elena's fingers tangled in Ivy's hair, pulling her even closer, and for a moment, nothing else existed—just the two of them, tangled together, lost in the kiss they had both been too scared to admit they wanted.
