i'm sitting in class

my AirPod's blasting enhypen

a girl sits next to me

she has a tube on her face, in her
nose

she smiles at me

i smile back, shes pretty

i try not to stare, shes sick

her bag full of medications

i feel bad

i compliment her shoes

she compliments my glasses

we start talking

we have the same interests

we both like enhypen

she's kind

we won't shut up to each-other

our teacher gets mad

we ignore her

i get her number, she gets mine

we text a lot

shes in the hospital a lot

ask her to hang out

shes in the hospital.

i visit her

she coughs a lot

she has a heart problem

i feel bad

she can finally hang out

we go to the beach

the way she talks is so calming

she can't eat certain foods.

she's sick, really sick

her medications fill up her bag

at school, we always talk

we have a lot of classes together

though she's not at school a lot, shes my best friend

we're at the beach

the waves hitting the sand

the seagulls flying

shes coughing, a lot

blood is all over the sand

shes limp on the ground

i call 911

i beg her to stay alive

i can't lose her

i hear the faint ambulance sirens

tears streaming down my face

don't go

the hospital is loud.

people crying, sirens, monitors.

i sit, will she be ok?

the doctor savs she'll die without a new heart

i beg them to get one

she has a rare blood type ab-

i'm ab-, i shout to the doctor, begging them to take my heart

i'm only 16, they can't

not without a parent consent

i'm begging the doctors

"please, i don't want her to die!"

they call my parents

my parents don't care

they left when i was 8

for fame.

i run into her room, crying, saying goodbye.

i give her my pink bracelet.

her heart barely beating

the doctors take me the operating room.

machines everywhere

this is it.

the doctor gets the mask.

i feel tired.

i won't ever wake up.
