You meet a girl at school

Shes short and has the cutest freckles that go across her nose and cheeks

You recognise her as one of the teachers daughters
She looks over at you and smiles

You feel the warmth radiating off her like the sun even from a distance

She comes over to you and says you have the prettiest eyes

You thank her and say she has the prettiest smile and freckles

She giggles and says her name is Sadie

You tell her yours and start to talk to her more in the corridors

Even starting to have lunch together

When the summer hits you hangout all day together

Talking about our futures and how we'd like things to be

She wants to live somewhere warm, she feels most at peace when in the sun

You tell her it compliments her perfectly, that she reminds you of the sun

Warm, radiant and beautiful

Her and her family go on holiday, a church camp

She tells you she misses you, that she looks at the moon and sees you

She's the sun and I'm the moon

It's bittersweet

Quickly winter came around and you bought her a present

A moon necklace, that way she'd always have her moon

She bought you a sun, so you'd always have your sun

You spend hours in eachothers arms by the fire in her garden

Laughing over how you got eachother those necklaces, how she'd never take it off just like the cross around her neck

You've known since a young age

Boys never appealed, whereas women are beautiful, holy

But the cross that she wears is her faith

She would tell me to go to hell if she knew and i couldn't loose my sun

As the moon you shine bright but the sun is the one that makes the moon bright to begin with

It's Halloween and you two are dressed up as the sun and the moon

The gold glitter lit up her face, her amber eyes stood out, her freckles barely traceable with all the makeup

You stood there adoring, admiring, just taking in her beauty

You look beautiful my sun you say stunned at her beauty

You do too my moon she says with a giggle

No i mean you look beautiful sadie, more beautiful than the sun, the stars, you are beautiful and I cant keep that to myself anymore

She looks at you with an emotion you cannot make out

You make eye contact for what feels like years when she finally walks over to you

To your surprise she kisses you, gently and soft, almost like she didn't touch your lips but she did

It became a weekly thing

We'd go for a date, do things we've both wanted to experience in relationships

Nobody knew, she thought her parents would send her away

As long as i had my sun I didn't care who she told and didn't

I had my sun

I learnt that she loves kisses on her neck

She likes to take her cross off when she sees me, shes scared of gods judgement

She likes to bake, scrunches her nose when she laughs, she likes to read romance books but romance books only

I learnt her inside and out

I kiss the parts of her body she hates telling her I love them

We are happy

But her brother came in and saw us

He said he knew he didn't want to tell but he thought we were only kissing and we're not, anything more is a sin

I went home and never spoke to my sun again

At 18 she was forced into an arranged marriage

We were going to runaway for her 18th

Eventually you move on

You no longer love being in hot places

You prefer snow and being in crowded places

Filling the whole that the sun left

You went to uni and followed your dream like she told you to

One winter you reached out to her and she said she didn't think she'd hear from you

You ask her how lifes been

It has treated her unfairly

She wants to leave her husband, after years of trying she could not love him

He hurts her because she doesn't love him

You tell her she can come to you to escape, that after all the years you still love her and no matter what

You will help

You continue talking and have a plan set in place

The night before the escape she tells you she loves you and always has

We will be together soon she says

You've both been waiting for this

For happiness

Her husband reads the messages in the middle of the night

He wakes her up shouting about how sinful she is

She cries in bed

He beats her until she takes her last breath

He doesn't realise and calls her a sinner before walking out

You found her body 3 days after the day she was meant to escape was

You called police and told them everything

They didn't call you sinners, they called you both brave and wished the plan had worked

Her husband gets locked up

And now you live somewhere hot, where the sun is constant

She is always there, always showing you love
