Shiho opened the door to the coffee shop and checked right and left, looking for a familiar face, her sister Akemi.

After a while, she noticed a brown-haired woman waving at her.

She smiled as she headed down in the direction of Akemi.

As the auburn-haired woman sat down, her sister chirped:

"Shiho-chan! It's been so long! I'm glad you finally got a day off from that gloomy lab."

"The superiors don't give away days off just like that. But I managed."

Replied Shiho, her fingers interwined, as she explained.

She was undeniably happy to see her elder sister but worried as well. Whispers had been running through the lab about Akemi, and it worried her sick.

"So how have you been? I hope you're okay with all the research you do. You should take longer breaks."

Shiho winced internally at that. She never liked bringing that up so she replied:

"I'm fine! But you? Are you okay? I have been hearing things lately..."

Akemi laughed it off and finally reassured her little sister:

"Don't worry about me. I'll be okay. It would help if you stopped obsessing over developing that drug and start...Looking for a boyfriend."

Shiho rolled her eyes.

"I promise, you'll be happy once you find the right guy. Someone just like that Shinichi Kudo? Well, one who is alive of course, ahaha..."

Shiho pinched the bridge of her nose:

"Seriously? Is that all you've got as an example? I've done my homework and he's everything I wouldn't want in a boyfriend."

Bratty, overconfident, and not that admirable whenever he wasn't doing his detective work. Nothing to fall for.

It was his public image that people were swooning over, not his real self.

"Anyway...Akemi. I really wanted to talk about you, not me."

...

Haibara knew one thing for sure:  That if Akemi could tell her something, she would tell her:

"See, I was right after all?"

She gazed at the somewhat bored Conan who wasn't even paying attention to the class.
