The town still found it hard to fully trust Iris and Alexios, they tried to socialise but were often met with fear and anger. Luckily no one had noticed the vampires 'eating habits'. However Sophia had managed to build a relationship with the townsfolk, it was a wonder to the vampires, and in a way they were envious of her being able to interact with them.

"Hello, everyone!" Sophia waved to the small children in front of her.

They all began to rush towards Sophia, their legs so small they were barely moving at all. Sophia giggled at the sight of her very small friends. Once they reached her she held out a basket of freshly baked bread and cakes. Sophia had taken up yet another hobby, one she could share with the town, she had used it to get closer to them, often wondering in town with a large basket filled to the very top to give away. The children were so happy with her offerings that they often asked her to play with them, and she would oblige to make them happy.

One boy, William, had been the most ecstatic when he saw Sophia, he was around the age of 9 with black hair and brown eyes and so small he had only reached Sophias hip. In a way he reminded her of young Alexios, with the same mischievous smile.

"Sophia, come with me!" William exclaimed as he grabbed her hand and dragged her towards the playground.

In response Sophia laughed at the young boy as he used all his strength to pull her towards his destination.

"Okay, okay, what are we going to play today?" Sophia laughed.

"Hide and seek!" He exclaimed, with a grin.

"Who's hiding first then?" Sophia asked.

"I AM!" He shouted, voice filled with excitement.

Sophia enjoyed spending time with the children, in her eyes they were the one of the many good things she had found in Texas. They gave her the happiness and the chance she needed, in a way, she supposed they were her lifeline, the one shot she had to do good and make sure they survive in this world.

Sophia stayed with the children all day obliging in all types of games, hide and seek being the favourite, they practically spent to whole day playing it.

"All right! I'm going to count to 100 and you guys have to hide, okay?" Sophia shouted.

Giggles soon echoed through the town as they ran to their hiding places.

Sophia found it easy to spot them all within ten minutes but something caught her eye, or the lack of something did.

"William? Children where is Will?" Sophia panicked.

Sophia scanned the vast expanse and saw no boy in sight, he was always good at this game, that is why he loved it, but Sophia had always found him by the  time the others were found.

"Guys I need you to go back home for now, quick now." She said with a painful smile.

Sophia searched and searched to now avail. She was dreading his mothers face when she would tell her that her only son was now missing.

Soon, before Sophia had even realised, night had fallen and it was complete darkness around her. She took it as a sign to return back into the town only to be met by the saddened gaze of a mother already grieving the loss of her son.

Sophia ran towards the frail woman.

"What happened?" Sophia asked as she rested a hand on the woman's shoulder.

"He's gone. All of them are gone, our children."

"What?" Sophia whispered in shock.

Sophia looked around their town and saw women in every house crying, clutching their husbands.
