I ran back home. I opened the door, walking inside and locking the door behind me. I slowly walked through my house, making sure not to make any noise.
"Mom?" I whispered.
"H-Hayley?" I barely heard my mother say. Even though I could barely hear her speak, I could hear the terror in her voice, telling me she knew about as much as I did about the situation.
"I'm gonna check upstairs." I said, as quietly as I possibly could.
"OK, just be careful."
I tiptoed up the stairs. I heard a noise coming from my bedroom. 'Well, that's strange.' I thought for the second time that morning, heading to the door. I heard yet another noise. I turned the light on, illuminating my mostly purple bedroom. And there, in the middle of my black-and-purple rug, were 2 men I had never seen before.
