A/N: heh i've been planning a story recently and it's majorly fall-based so the title of this is shared with the new book <3
Taylor's POV:
"Tay, we're going to be late!"
I could hear Travis calling from downstairs, his voice echoed through the halls and into my bedroom. My plastic coat hangers hit each other harshly as I rummaged through my wardrobe. Gosh it's hard to pick out an outfit.
"10 more minutes, I don't have an outfit!"
"5!"
"Fine Traviss!"
I pulled out a plaid shirt, soft cardigan, black tights and ankle boots to wear. Perfect. Together the clothes melted into a beautiful mix of classiness and fall, but it needed one more thing. Dragging my fingers through my jewellery box I picked out a pair of small pumpkin earrings. Smiling, I hopped down the stairs. My hair, that was left out in its curls, bobbed behind me. Travis was waiting by the door and kissed me gently as he opened the door for me.
Travis's POV:
Taylor bounced out the door like an effervescent child. Well, she kind of was an effervescent child. (tee hee i learnt that word the other day and can't stop using it i love it sm -author) She waited at the car door as I turned the key in the door, a soft click puncturing the fall air. I heard the car door handle open and close as Taylor tugged on it.
"Woah who's ready to go now?" I laughed, unlocking the car.
"Definitely me," Taylor giggled, I watched her head duck under the roof of the car as she climbed in.
My feet crunched the fall leaves with ease, their brittle shapes crackling under my weight. Tugging on my own door handle I clambered into the car. My fingers fumbled with the car keys as I pushed the key and turned it, the engine purring to life. Taylor jumped in her seat, excitedly punching something into her phone.
My feet pressed delicately on the pedals and my hands traced over the steering wheel as I turned the corner. Taylor, who had put her phone down, was grinning while staring her the window. The brown and golden leaves were drifting down from trees. Warm air and rose-gold beams of light filtered throughout the streets. I pushed down the handle on the steering wheel, the blinkers quietly clicking away as I turned into the pumpkin patch carpark. Taylor's feet tapped the floor of my car quickly and loudly with anticipation and excitement. As soon as I stopped the car her door flew open and her feet slammed the ground.
Taylor's POV:
I felt my eyes light up, there it was, the pumpkin patch. Every year I wait to grab the perfect pumpkin for a pie, then I carve the rind into a smile in time for halloween. Travis laughed lightly in the background as I skipped into the maze of orange and wonder. My fingers feebly brushed the brown stems of the pumpkins, my other hand encased in Travis's.
"So which pumpkin do you want to get?" Travis asked, his eyes scanning the pumpkins around us.
"I'm not sure, just a big one with thick skin and lots of character," I answered, my own eyes searching for the perfect pumpkin.
"How can a pumpkin have character?" Travis laughed loudly, squeezing my hand.
"I actually don't know, they just look like they would," My reply was short and sweet. I tried to sound as childish as possible, while staying in the range of normality. You know?
Travis and I walked and weaved our way through the pumpkins, chattering like schoolchildren, until I laid my eyes on it, the perfect pumpkin. I tightened my grip on his hand, dashing off towards the pumpkin. It was round without a bump or bruise and had a short browny greeny stem with a leaf curling out of it. I hoisted it up into my arms, before dropping it again, lightly, so it wouldn't break.
"Do you want me to hold it?" Travis chuckled.
"Um, yes please," I said sheepishly, helping him pick up the pumpkin. We dawdled back to the car slowly. Travis carried the pumpkin with ease and held my hand with his free one. I shot my foot out, heel first, before tapping the ball of my foot on the ground as I walked, a habit I'd had since I was a child.
When Travis and I reached the car I helped him roll the pumpkin into the back before prancing back to my seat and sighing.
"Pumpkin-finding is hard work."
A/N tbh i'm proud of myself for writing this in abt 30 minutes, and i had fun but i feel like i didn't portray them as themselves enough lol. like tay isn't really that bouncy child-like person isn't she. i mean how the hell are we supposed to know but then again on my page they're my characters technically so i can make my puppets have lots of different personalities 🤠
