"Coming! Just a minute." Aarushi shouted, wearing her jhumkas as she glanced at herself in the mirror for the last time before leaving for the mall. Abhishek had his tennis class today, so he would be dropping her to the mall on his way. She bid her mother a goodbye as she rushed to sit beside her brother, who was waiting for her, already seated in the car.
It took them about half an hour to reach the mall.
"Di...be careful, okay? Don't go about roaming here and there. Wait for your soon to be in laws to come. I'd called mom to ask her about them and she replied that they would be here in about five to ten minutes at max." Abhishek spoke through his car window, causing Aarushi to smile as her little protective brother. Abhishek had always been like this.
"Okay okay my dad. Now you go, your class will be starting within fifteen minutes." Aarushi said, glancing at her watch and then looking at her brother who hurriedly bid her a goodbye and left.
She stared at the disappearing car for a few seconds before averting her gaze. She decided to scroll social media by the time her in laws arrive.
Soon, a loud honk caused her to stare at the car and she quickly stood up, seeing her in laws smiling at her.
"Sorry beta, your uncle got a bit occupied with a company meeting." Her soon to be mother-in-law, Meera said while glaring at her husband, Mr. Vivek.
"Ah no...it's totally fine aunty, I've not been waiting since long." Aarushi replied, smiling at the cute duo.
"Vivek ji...agar aap apni office ki duniya se bahar aa gaye hai toh kya ab hum sub shopping karle?" Meera asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm, while her husband just stared at her helplessly before nodding.
(Vivek ji...if you are out of your office world then can we start out shopping now?)
"Aur haa...apne uss workaholic bete ko bhi bula lein...usse bolein ki uski maa bula rahi hai warna uski shaadi toh mai uske laptop se hi karwa dungi." Meera completed.
(And yes...call your workaholic son too...tell him that his mother is calling otherwise I'll arrange his marriage with his laptop only.)
"Aapka hukum sar aakhon par." Her husband replied, saluting her causing her to glare at him as he quickly turned around, trying to search for his phone in his pocket.
(Your wish is my command.)
"Yaha hai phone." Meera uttered as her husband just smiled cheekily at her before walking away with his phone, causing Meera to just shake her head while smiling. She then turned to look at Aarushi, who had been watching all this couple drama with a soft smile playing on her lips. Oh, how she wished her parents behaved the same with each other. The couple's love for each other was crystal clear even in their bickering.
(Here's your phone.)
"Beta, let's go inside now, shall we?" Meera asked as Aarushi nodded in response, the smile still on her face.
They walked inside the mall and soon stopped in front of a bridal shop. The shop display had a quite good range of clothes that attracted both of their attention. They entered the store as an elderly woman greeted them with a smile.
"Welcome ji welcome. Bataiye bataiye...bride kon hai?" The woman asked staring intently at the two.
(Tell tell...who's the bride?)
"It's her aunty ji." Meera spoke up, keeping her hands on Aarushi's shoulder as the bride looked down, a sudden spark of shyness gushing in her.
"Oh my my...kinni khoobsurat kudi hai ji. Inni soni shakal hai." The lady replied, pinching Aarushi's cheeks as she blushed even more, not used to the compliments.
