I place a bag onto Siki. She looks at me and growls slightly.
"I know. I know, but we must brave the track." I say.
"I can't believe we're going above the earth." Anula says.
"It'll be nice to see the true sun." I comment.
"But we don't know anything about the elves." Anula says.
"So?" I stand up.
Siki growls again. I throw her a small squid.
"But I don't want to leave home." She says.
I lift her head up.
"We won't be gone forever." I say.
"I don't want to go." She grabs my legs.
I'm not sure about going or staying. I want to speak up, but Mother has insisted. I pull my hair back. I take up my braid. I have heard about the elves before. I have heard about the prince and princess but only briefly. I do not lie that I am terrified.
"Are you ready Tsireya?" Mother comes.
"Yes, mother." I say.
I match the bond. I climb onto Siki.
"Come along," Mother takes Anula.
"I can take her." I say.
"You must focus on riding for yourself. You are too clumsy." Mother looks at me.
I nod.
"But I want to go-" Anula starts.
"Anula, come along." Mother says.
She sighs. I let out a breath.
"We ride today." Mother says.
"Okay." I say nervously.
