"Are you sure we can't convince you to stay?" Cole asked me as I walked towards the front of the campus.

For the past week, Cole, Dustin, and I have all been hanging out together. Even though its the first week, they've become my closest friends here so far. Then again, it seems as though most people are staying away from me, probably Damon's doing. I guess that most of the students here are supernatural. Come to think of it, I do catch a wolf's scent sometimes. Well, actually, most of the time. Anyway, that doesn't matter, what matters is that today is Thursday and I get to go home finally. Unfortunately for Cole and Dustin, they have classes today and tomorrow.

"Come on, there's gonna be this really great frat party at the Delta Sigma's house Saturday and it would really be much more fun with you there." Dustin told me.

I shook my head. "I'm sorry guys I really am, but the truth is that I'm really luck enough to have my schedule like this so I can spend my weekends at home with my family an-"

"And boyfriend." Dustin finished for me.

I sighed. "Yeah, look they all mean a lot to me."

"What about us?" Cole asked.

"I just met you guys, for all I know you guys could be complete and utter psychopaths that wanna murder me." I joked.

"Or kidnap you for certain reasons. So maybe you shouldn't trust us, I mean, you've got a point there." Dustin laughed.

"Come on don't be ridiculous Dustin, I mean, we just met and you were very open to me. Plus, we're both harmless. All we wanna do is be friends with her. I mean that's what I wanna do. Just get to know and get closer to a fellow classmate. What do you want to do with her, Dustin?" Cole question.

"I wanna look out for Marlee. You never know what kind of sick people there are out there in the world. You might not understand but I speak from personal experience that nobody is an open book. We all have our own hidden agendas and our own secrets that we will never share with anyone. Whether it be our friends, our lover, even our family. Somethings stay secrets. Forever." Dustin stated.

Damn, he was getting really deep with that shit. Anyway, I look at Cole and smile.

"You know Dustin is right, there are a lot of sick people out there Cole. I too know from personal experience that some people would do anything to get there hands on somethings. And sometimes its best to stay out of the spotlight and just act natural. To keep living even though nothing is okay. Just like sharks must keep swimming to stay alive, we humans need to keep living our lives normally if we want to continue living. Then moment you stop is when your life stops. And then, what was the point of it all anyway." Cole was about to interrupt but I continued. "And yes although part of living might be to go to a frat party, another part is to never take advantage of the time you're given to go and spend time with the ones you love. I like hanging out with you guys and all, but I've known them a lot longer and they are where my heart is. No matter what, as close as we get, you guys need to understand that they will always come first to me. Even though one of my favorite books basically tells you to choose friends over your own blood relatives, I will always choose my blood relatives above all." I finished.

Cole just stands there staring at me while Dustin gives me a smile so bright it can cure cancer. Suddenly, a phone begins to ring. Dustin apologizes and answers the call while Cole and I continue the conversation. Then, my ears begin to pick up on the conversation Dustin is having with whoever was on the other side of the line.

"No, I was hoping she would've been on her way right now like you said, but my stupid roommate has been delaying her departure. Look I still don't understand why you told me to stay away from her if me getting close to her would benefit you best. I mean, isn't this the whole point of me helping you: to watch her for you. Make sure she isn't going-"
