Anticipation was eating Benj alive.

Of what, you might ask? The anticipation of her next move.

The one and only Rosalie Bennet had been ghosting him. Countless texts and calls but she remained unresponsive, even going as far as distancing herself from him in school. The girl stopped showing up to their musical theatre class too.

He assumed he was getting special treatment due to the recent rumours, but once he paid closer attention, she hadn't been speaking to any of her usual friends.

The guys at least.

Only two friends were in current rotation. Bailey and his sister, Alyssa.

Benj tried to ask Alyssa about it but she didn't dare speak of it. She would slam her bedroom door in his face, dismissing him before he could even get a sentence out.

The girl knew how much Rosalie meant to Benj and vice versa. But in this case in particular, it was best for him to keep his distance.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't get her out of his mind. He was worried sick. Even just observing from afar he could tell that she wasn't herself.

The girl had been acting way out of character — missing assignments, zero participation in class.

This eventually led to Rosalie landing herself a detention after class.

It would go on her permanent record which she worked so hard to keep untainted. At this point, the teachers have taken notice to her sudden 180 switch.

Benj — being the person he was — purposely made a pathetic attempt of rebellion in his class to get himself into detention using a couple of stupid pranks.

Evidently, he couldn't reach her inside or outside of school due to his sister — who went out of her way to drag Rosalie away whenever he neared.

Though, his well thought out 'detention plan' seemed to be in the works.

The final bell rang and to no surprise, Benj's first thought was Rosalie. As if he weren't already thinking about her the entire lesson.

He got a sense of nostalgia when he maneuvered through the crowd of students — ready to see Rosalie like he did that day of their first musical theatre session.

Benj had a small relief knowing there was a low chance of repetition of the other events that occured that day regarding her and Koosh.

The disciplinary room, also known as the detention room, was borderline empty. Other than the regular trouble-makers, there were at most three people.

There she was.

Blonde wavy hair moderately dishevelled, eye bags noticably darker, skin a shade paler, and her lips drier. Making him subconscious lick his own lips subtly.

She seemed miserable.

The girl looked like she hadn't had a good night's sleep in a while — she even looked as if she'd been crying. The slightest hint of puffiness in her eyes and nose.

His heart ached at the sight of one of his dearest friends. Especially with his recent predicament of feelings.

Stupidly, he approached the table beside her, cautiously taking a seat.

Benj's eyes watched her closely for a moment but when she moved in the slightest, he flinched to look ahead of him. It was painfully obvious that he was trying to talk to her — but she wasn't having it.
