Chapter 63
Catalina
"You can't just go around hurting people and not feel any sense of responsibility," Matteo doubled down, and I frowned.
Shaking my head, I turned my body away from Lorenzo to face Matteo fully, "I didn't intentionally set out to hurt you, but I can't control how you feel about my actions. I'm not responsible for your emotions."
Letting out an exaggerated laugh, Matteo threw his hands up in the air and walked further into the room. "That's not the point. The point is that you broke our trust, and you should take ownership of that," he snarled, pointing in my direction while continuing to scold me like a child.
Is he freaking for real?
"I broke your trust, really," I scoffed with narrowed eyes, and he did the same, causing my blood to begin to boil. "No way am I going to take ownership of something I don't believe I did wrong. We can agree to disagree on this."
"Fine. But don't expect me just to forgive and forget."
"Fine," I shot back at Matteo. "That's your decision, and I don't expect you to do anything. But I'm not going to apologize for something I don't believe I did wrong." He sternly folded his firm arms over his chest, and I watched as his lean muscles bulged beneath his tight shirt.
Up until this very moment, I hadn't realized just how good the furious man standing before me looked tonight. He was in a form-fitting white button-up with a pair of dusky gray dress pants. The dark curls on top of his head were messy and disheveled as though he had been running his long narrow fingers repeatedly through it the entire drive over.
Poor guy.
"You made me look bad. Nic and Sal would be so fucking pissed if they found out."
"Ahh! So that's what this is really about? I didn't make anyone look... anything," I snarked, earning an eye roll. "Matteo, I can protect myself, and it's time you all start trusting that."
"We do trust you," he affirmed clumsily. Even he didn't believe what he was saying.
No. They didn't.
"No, you don't, or you wouldn't be following me around like you are," I told them both honestly. "You don't babysit each other. So fuck that, and you know what fuck you too."
An amused laugh came from behind me as Lorenzo made his way to my side. "Woe... Woe," he threw his hands up, and I shook my head, exaggeratedly rolling my eyes at him with pursed lips. "To be fair, since we started training, I am completely on your side. I've seen what your little ass can do, and I dare a fucker so much as to try it." I pulled my brows together in confusion and rested my hands on my hips, turning to look at him. I had not expected him to say that.
"I only texted this incompetent fucker so he wouldn't lose his shit about misplacing you."
Oh my, I did create a bit of a mess. But at least they're talking.
"Good job with that, by the way," Enzo told Matteo without breaking eye contact with me, and I swallowed hard, feeling warmth begin to spread from my aching core to the pit of my tightening stomach.
"He's right," Matteo spoke from behind me, and Lorenzo's amused gaze flickered with something undecipherable to me before his icy blue eyes rolled upward to meet Matteo's steely gray ones. He cleared his throat. "You both are. We should trust that you can handle yourself."
Sighing defeatedly, Matteo's frosty demeanor started to thaw, and his gray eyes softened, pulling me in. The hairs on my skin stood as goosebumps erupted throughout my heat-tingling flesh, even with everything I had just said. It was the truth.
However, I did feel bad for making Matteo worry. He didn't deserve that. He was so angry because it was obvious he was incredibly concerned about me. I knew I had to learn when to choose my battles, and honestly, it was becoming too hard to concentrate on arguing with him when all I wanted to do was cross the room and slam my lips on his, ending the tension between us at once. So I did.
I turned, leaving Lorenzo's side, and marched up to Matteo with complete tunnel vision. Frantically wrapping both my arms around his neck, he watched me intently as my lips desperately crashed to his. Kissing me back, he accepted me without question.
"You know what, maybe I was a bit too harsh," I pulled slightly back to brush my lips against his as I spoke between each of our binding kisses, "I mean, I wasn't wrong...."
Matteo shook his head, kissing his way up my cheek. "No?" he snorted with an eye roll of his own, and I laughed, leaning further into his touch.
Glimmering flames coursed through my veins. "No..." I frantically moved to kiss his mouth again because I needed him more than I needed to finish my sentence. My hand slowly skimmed down the center of his lean abdomen, and my nails curled into the soft material of his white silk button-up. I sucked his bottom lip into my mouth, making him moan sexily, and I soon found myself playing with his waistband. The growing wildfire between us was morphing into a glaring inferno, and I was ready to go down in flames for this.
We both knew it too.
Matteo hissed into my mouth when my finger slipped into the front of his dark gray dress pants at the same time that my tongue descended into his equally desperate mouth.
"Wait... Wait..." he spoke against my lips and brought his hands to my shoulders in a failed attempt to inch me backward as I kissed him again. "What the hell is going on here?"
"I wasn't wrong, but my delivery could have been better, right Lorenzo?" I pulled my bottom lip between my teeth. Smiling, I flirtingly tilted my head to the side and broke away from the man in front of me. Then I turned to speak to the one behind me and ignored Matteo's question completely. "I should make it up to him, huh?"
Lorenzo's jaw ticked at my question, his arctic blue eyes flickering away from mine to Matteo's, then back to mine, and I felt my composure begin to unravel in anticipation.
"Is that all you have to say for yourself, princess?"
My breath hitched as Lorenzo kept his sole focus on me. His electric gaze was ravenous but in a slightly different way than it had been earlier. I nodded, nervously wetting my mouth while watching him silently, uncertain of what he would do next. He then snickered as the corner of his firmly tightened lips tipped upward wickedly, letting me know that we were not walking out of this room the same.
"Took you long enough," he told me, and I nodded. It was clear we wanted the same thing, and it was time we stopped denying it.
Gosh. It was so hot in here.
Wetting my lips again, my breathing became slightly uneven when I reached up to brush my fingertips across my collarbone as I spoke. I needed to feel some friction against my heated, quivering flesh. "Oh," I shivered under my touch, my hungry gaze darting back and forth between the two of them. "This is gonna be fun."
Matteo stormed up to me with narrowed eyes then he grabbed me by my chin, tilting my head up to look at him. "Is she on something?" I laughed at his question, then brought my lip between my teeth and pressed myself closer to him. He felt so good on my skin. "Is she fucking rolling right now, Lorenzo? She just said I felt good on her skin." Matteo turned his suspiciously narrowed gaze to Enzo, and my mouth parched.
Oh shit. Had I said that out loud?
"There's more if you're interested?"
"And you took that with her? Unbelievable," Matteo swore in Italian under his breath, making me laugh again as he pinched the bridge of his nose with his thumb and index fingers. So serious. "Absolutely fucking not. Someone's got to keep their fucking head. There are people after us. If you two haven't forgotten."
Lorenzo snarled at Matteo, causing me to gape back and forth between them with widened eyes, my mouth slightly ajar in the uncertainty of the moment. "I'm well aware of who is and isn't after us," he snapped soberingly and sharply, cutting through the amusement between us. "That's why I have a small team of men on the outside. So stop being such a prima donna bitch." Matteo scoffed, and my mouth fell shut.
Would Matteo back down? Or...
Lorenzo held Matteo's agitated gaze, and I could feel the heat radiating off of both of them, and I wanted nothing more than to actually feel them on me.
"Now, take the goddamn pill."
Was this Lorenzo's weird way of apologizing to the people he had hurt? Getting us high, them fucking our brains out. Not sure how ethical my therapist would think this was. But fuck if there wasn't a precise method to his madness.
"Oh! Oh! I'll give it to him," I clapped, wanting Matteo to feel whatever it was that we were feeling. I wanted him to fly with us. "Ple-e-e-ase?"
That was when I heard careful footsteps closing in from behind me. Soon my hair was being pushed away from the right side of my neck. I moaned at the delicate touch, and my eyes fell closed. Slowly slanting my head to the side, I followed the slow sensual movement before there were a pair of warm lips on the nape of my neck, making me shiver hard.
"Of course, princess," he hummed between each warm kiss. I shuddered when I suddenly felt the back of his hand moving against my sore ass as he reached into the front pocket of his pants. Matteo's breathing picked up through his flared nostrils as he quietly watched us, jaw tight. I felt Enzo's warm lips spread into a smirk on my hot skin as he wrapped an arm around my shoulder, tugging me closer. Then his mouth left me, and he held up a small neon purple baggy in front of my face. My eyes widened with excitement, and so did my smile. "Whatever you want."
I plucked the tiny pouch from between Lorenzo's long pale fingers. Then I removed one of the small purple pills before handing it back to him. Hmm. I hadn't even realized that there were smiley faces printed on them. It made sense, though. I felt pretty happy as I peered up to meet Matteo's curious gray eyes. I noticed the same glimmer of uncertainty staring back at me that I'm sure I had in mind when Lorenzo first presented the same situation to me.
Smiling, I inched toward Matteo while still managing to stay in Lorenzo's hold. "I trusted him," I said. I wasn't really sure why I said it. I just felt maybe it was the thing to say, but from the look on his face, I quickly learned it was not.
Matteo stared at me for a long moment as though he was considering the words I had just said. Then he let out a sharp breath. "I don't," he snapped his pointed silver glare, seemingly raising to cut daggers into the man standing behind me. I knew that wasn't true, or he would not still be living and working with him.
"Trust me then?" I tilted my head to the side and placed the purple pill on the tip of my tongue. Then I held it out in Matteo's direction. His intense gray eyes held mine for a long while before the apprehension soon washed away and was soon replaced with determination.
Taking my chin into his hand, his mouth swiftly descended to mine. Then his lips wrapped around my tongue. I squealed in surprise when his strong arms quickly circled my waist, and I was lifted off the ground. I pulled him even closer, wrapping my legs around his waist. Matteo began kissing me in earnest, and I moaned, snaking my arms around his neck as he carried me over to the couch. He sat and pulled me down onto his lap without breaking our connection.
Our lips moved frantically against one another's, and he took my mouth with such urgency that it took my breath away. This kiss was saying all the things we hadn't been able to over the last few months as he swallowed down the pill. Taking his bottom lip between my teeth, I curled my fingers into the back of his head. "Shit," Matteo hissed when I pulled on his medium-length curls, kissing me even harder, and I bared myself down onto the stiffening bulge at the front of his pants. I sucked on his tongue, rocking my hips back and forth, and he cursed into my mouth, his fingers curling painfully into my hips as he did.
"Now, be a good boy and take off her dress, Ricci."ツ hope you enjoyed it.
