You should head to home, Dii,” Rishi suggested, glancing at his watch and looking at her with a hint of desperation.

He really needed a break!

“Mm-hmm, almost done. I’ll leave in a few minutes,” Diya mumbled absentmindedly as she sifted through the piles of documents on her desk. It was almost 10 p.m., well past her office hours, yet she was still buried in the files for the newly recruited models for the Yamazaki venture.

“Did you finalize the venue and time for tomorrow’s meeting, Rishi?” Diya asked, still absorbed in her paperwork.

“Yes, I did. Unfortunately, some models are still traveling; they’ll be here in two days,” Rishi explained, glancing at his iPad. Diya hummed in response, barely looking up.

“Good. Let me know the time, and I’ll be there,” she said with a deep breath, leaning back and stretching her arms. A satisfied smile appeared on her lips, causing Rishi to shake his head in disbelief.

“I still can’t understand why you push yourself this hard,” he muttered under his breath, setting his iPad down and gathering her things from the couch. Diya watched him with a smile, appreciating how he took her belongings, knowing it was about time for her to leave.

“Because then you know you’ve worked hard enough for the day,” she replied, standing up from her chair. She walked over to him and playfully ruffled his hair, making him look at her in awe.

She asked for her phone, and Rishi handed it to her. Unlocking the device, she checked for notifications.

No texts from him?

That was unusual. He always made sure to pick her up from work, and they would head home together, chatting about their day and joking around.

Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion, but she shrugged it off. They had been working tirelessly on the new project. The Agnihotrys were entering the fashion industry for the first time, and her husband, Advait, demanded perfection in everything. It didn’t matter if he scared his employees or made them quit; he wouldn’t tolerate mistakes.

“Take care,” Diya said softly, giving Rishi a light hug. She took her things from him and made her way out of the office, waiting for her driver. When the car arrived, she thanked the driver softly and settled into the back seat.

As the city lights passed by, she admired the beauty of the chaos around her. She thought about texting Advait but hesitated, something holding her back. The uncertainty gnawed at her, messing with her thoughts.

She was married, so why was she feeling insecure? Maybe because she knew she couldn’t live up to their initial agreement of keeping everything between them platonic and simple.
