It was a typical evening in the dimly lit apartment that Dabi and Hawks shared, the soft glow of the television illuminating the room as the two of them battled it out in yet another intense round of their favourite video game. Snacks were strewn across the coffee table, a testament to their playful rivalry, and the atmosphere was thick with competitive tension.
Hawks, with his confident grin and feathers ruffled in excitement, was determined to win this round. "You're going down, Dabi! Just watch me score this point!" He leaned forward, fingers flying over the controller as he deftly maneuverer his character.
Dabi, on the other hand, lounged back on the couch, a smirk playing on his lips. His mismatched eyes sparkled with mischief as he observed Hawks intently, a plan forming in his mind. This wasn't just about the game anymore; it was about revenge. Hawks had been playing dirty, using cheap tactics to throw Dabi off his game, and now it was his turn to return the favour.
As Hawks focused on the screen, his brow furrowed in concentration, Dabi quietly shifted closer, his movements almost cat-like in their stealth. Just as Hawks began to make a critical move, Dabi struck—his fingers darting out and targeting Hawks' sides with expert precision.
Hawks jumped, a startled yelp escaping him as he tried to maintain his composure. "D-Dabi! What are you doing?!" His character on the screen was quickly losing its footing, and he desperately tried to refocus, shaking his head as laughter bubbled up. "I can't concentrate!"
"That's the point," Dabi chuckled, his voice low and teasing. He continued to wiggle his fingers against Hawks' sides, delighting in the way his partner squirmed under his touch. Hawks was known for his composure, but Dabi loved breaking down those walls, especially with something as playful as tickling.
"Dabi, stop!" Hawks protested, though the laughter spilling from his lips betrayed him. He was trying to keep his grip on the controller, but every time Dabi's fingers danced along his ribs, his concentration shattered. He squirmed in his seat, attempting to lean away, but Dabi was relentless, moving closer and digging into the sensitive spots that made Hawks squirm even more.
"I can't lose to you like this!" Hawks gasped, breathless, desperately trying to push Dabi away. But each time he moved, Dabi would simply adjust his position, fingers now creeping towards his waist, eliciting more laughter from the hero.
With every gentle poke and tickle, Hawks found himself caught in a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. The game was important, yes, but the warmth of Dabi's teasing made him feel alive in a way he couldn't resist. "You're such a cheat!" he managed to say between laughs, but there was no real malice in his words.
Dabi grinned wider, clearly enjoying the game just as much as the playful torment he was dishing out. "Cheat? I'm just teaching you a lesson." He paused, fingers stilling for a moment as he leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Besides, you've been playing dirty this whole time. A little payback is only fair, right?"
Hawks shook his head, trying to argue but losing the battle against the tickling sensations. "I'm serious, Dabi! I need to win!" He could barely keep his eyes on the screen; the character was now aimlessly wandering off the map, completely lost to his distraction.
Dabi leaned back, feigning innocence. "Oh? Is that what you need?" His fingers danced back into action, finding the spots just beneath Hawks' arms that made the hero erupt into a fit of giggles, the controller slipping from his grasp.
"Stop! Dabi! I can't—" Hawks laughed, gasping for breath as he tried to regain some control, but Dabi was having none of it. With each tickle, he could feel the tension and frustration melt away, replaced by the sweet relief of laughter and love.
The game continued in the background, though it was clear that Hawks had completely lost focus. Every attempt to play was thwarted by Dabi's relentless fingers, and soon he was doubled over, laughing uncontrollably as he begged for mercy. "Okay, okay! You win! Just stop!"
Dabi relented, finally pulling back, though a triumphant grin lingered on his face. "See? Wasn't that more fun than winning?"
Hawks took a moment to catch his breath, his heart still racing, a mixture of annoyance and pure joy coursing through him. "You're impossible," he said, shaking his head with a smile that belied his irritation.
"And you love it," Dabi shot back, wrapping an arm around Hawks and pulling him close. Their laughter mingled in the air, a shared moment of warmth and connection, reminding them both that sometimes, it was the playful moments that meant the most.
With the game still flickering on the screen, Dabi leaned in, stealing a quick kiss from Hawks. "Next time, I'll let you win... if you ask nicely," he teased.
Hawks couldn't help but smile, knowing that whatever the stakes, there would always be time for a little playful revenge.
