Time to go back to school.
You'd been given two days off after the Sports Festival, but regretfully, you couldn't say that you'd gotten much rest. The events at the hospital had just left you with more questions than answers. Even though it brought you unimaginable pain and discomfort, you kept on replaying your mother's words, over and over again. You wondered where she could possibly be right now. You wondered if she'd abandoned you on purpose, or whether it was entirely the system's doing.
You wondered... if she regretted wishing death upon her own daughter.
There was really no point in speculating. All you could do was hope that your memories would continue to come back to you, bit by bit. There were bound to be other things that would trigger your recollection of past events. It was easier said than done, but you needed to be patient. You needed to endure.
And really, when it came to enduring, no one was as good at it as you.
If there was one other reason you were more agitated than usual, it would have to be because of the whole fiasco with Dabi becoming your stalker. You'd spent the better portion of last night tossing and turning, anxiously glancing out the windows every so often. The system didn't want you to die. If you died, you wouldn't be able to make progress with your love interests. You tried to tell yourself that if Dabi ever did show up at your house, the system would warn you, but... honestly, you weren't so sure. They'd already proven they weren't above going to extremes, like forcing you to flirt with Shigaraki in the middle of USJ. You couldn't trust them. The only person you could trust was yourself.
Taking a deep breath, you slowly poked your head outside the front door of your house. You took a few moments to glance around, checking every possible angle. It didn't look like anyone was lurking about-especially someone with an appearance as distinct as Dabi's. Still, you could never be too careful, so you waited a bit longer, just to be sure.
It was pouring outside, which made you feel a good deal safer, to be honest. You imagined Dabi's pale blue flames being doused out by the rain if he tried to attack you. Or at least, you hoped they would.
"Oh, [Name]. G-Good morning!"
Amidst your not-so-subtle panicking, a voice called out to you. You turned to find Izuku holding an umbrella and waving at you. The two of you lived in the same neighborhood, after all. Although you'd deliberately avoided walking to school with him because your home life was better kept as a secret.
"Good morning, Izuku."
You mustered up a quick smile, almost certain that he'd seen which house you'd just come out of. Shit. Was he going to ask to come over too, like Katsuki did that one time? Izuku was the type of person to worry about others almost constantly. You really, really didn't want him to get suspicious because your parents were never home.
"So, this is where you live," Izuku smiled, turning his head towards your house and thereby confirming your suspicions. "It looks really nice! I think it's kind of funny that we live in the same area and meet up at the park so often, but I'm only just now finding out where your house is."
"Y-Yeah," you chuckled nervously. "It's, uh, definitely funny."
"Do you have an umbrella?" Izuku asked, and you were just now realizing that you'd been so caught up in searching for stalkers, you hadn't even stopped to take cover from the rain.
"No, but I should be able to craft one real quick," you said. "With my Quirk."
"It's okay, you can just share with me," Izuku reassured. He extended the umbrella out towards you, shielding you from the fierce water droplets. However, he quickly realized that sharing an umbrella required the two of you to be very close, and his freckled cheeks turned crimson.
