EL PACED BACK and forth on the porch, wondering why you hadn't come to see him yet and why you sounded so upset when you called him— if it was mike's fault he swore he would kick him where the sun didn't shine. a sharp exhale escapes him as he opens the door to the cabin and walks over to the phone.

"Hey. is everything okay?" Hopper asks with genuine concern, like he wasn't the one who took orders from (f/n) to tell mike to stop bothering you.

(F/n) just felt like you didn't need those many boys around you at the time, he knew how much you loved him but he just felt like it wasn't right and you needed some time to yourself. and hopper agreed, they both noticed how you were acting differently once you came back from the movies.

The both of them really didn't like mike, because he was taking up most of your time. so of course they were quick to tell him to stay away from you.

"Yes." El eventually answers hopper as he dialed mike's number.

"Hello, this is the wheelers." He heard mike's mom on the either end.

"May I speak to mike?" El asks, running a hand through his hair.

"Yeah, just a sec." Karen replies before the phone went quiet.

Eleven anxiously shifted his feet, clearly worried why you were so upset.

"Hello?"

He hears mike's voice, el glanced over his shoulder at hopper before heading into his room, flicking his wrist as the door shuts behind him. "It's 9:32. where are you and killian?" he asks, "why isn't [y/n] here?"

"Sorry, I-- I was just about to call." Mike answers. "I, um...can't see [y/n] today."

"What-- why not?" El questions.

"It's my nana. she's very sick."

"But hop said that your nana was okay, that it was a false alarm." El says with furrowed brows. "(Y/n) was very upset when I called her-- did you have anything to do with that?"

Mike closes his eyes as he quietly curses to himself, knowing what he told you probably made you upset. "Yeah! that's...what...we thought it was at first, but then she took a real turn for the worse."

"Oh." El replies.

"Yeah. we think she might...die." Mike lies.

"What?" El could hear mike's mom on the other end which made him even more suspicious because mike's mom sounded confused.

"Mom! get off the phone! how many times?!"

"Did nana call?!"

"No, mom! just get. off. the. phone!"
