Hearts break

Why can hearts break?
The heart in it's form in flesh can't be broken,
it can't be torn apart,
it can't be the way it feels.

Glass can break, bones can, glowsticks have to be broken.
But why hearts?
Why can we feel the flesh being ripped apart
not only for love
but for every type of loss?

Your heart is the only place where you feel all your emotions
It has lived through all your pain
disappointment
all fears and false hopes
all new friendships and kisses and small touches

And if it weren't as fragile as it is, it wouldn't be able to sustain all that.

Glass can be molded, so it can be broken.
Even steel can be broken, with the right force.
So why not us?

I know that everybody has heard this a million times before

but the reason is because all our feelings and emotions only make sense to a fragile heart.
A heart that is too afraid to be broken will never feel friendship, happiness, hope and dreams.

It is the cost, the same cost a glowstick has to pay in order to shine.
