Inuyasha and Serena both entered into the water competition. Along with his girlfriend Kagome who found her partner who she was tagged with she had a tag partner just like everyone.
It was a double-theme Pokémon battle. With water Pokémon only. So, Serena ran into Darien once more, Kagome had asks if they knew each other. Serena knew him as her ex-boyfriend. And he cheated on her with another girl.
So, this led to Kagome and Darien bonding and talking. Darien regretted that he hurt Serena when they were together. Kagome could relate to Darien, and she felt she could understand. She had been feeling this same feeling he had felt for Inuyasha for a while now. She wanted to end things too, but she didn't do it yet, she felt this was everyone's last time together, and she wanted to give them that chance to enjoy their final week together, everyone was so close since they were kids, but they weren't kids anymore.
plus, Kagome think that Inuyasha not romantically in love with her anymore. They are so close and good friends, but he's had a past with someone else too, and she felt they would never be on the same page with each other.
Darien told Kagome the longer she waited the worse it could be for them both. So, She understood. Serena wasn't in the mood to talk about him. But she was ready for a fight.

So, the tag battles began. As groups were pairing up everyone was ready. So, the judges were the camp people normally. So, the teams of two worked together. Inuyasha was watching over Serena's facial expressions she was mad at that guy.
He knew that much, but as they were called up next their number was called for the tag battle.

So, Inuyasha threw out his pokeball. His water type for the battle. He threw out his Gyarados----!!!!

As the crowd made some sounds. As Serena looked at Inuyasha and she chose to match with her partner. So, it was lucky she went to the main hall before this battle started. Since this was a water Pokémon battle event only, she transported a few of the ones she had on her before, and asks her professor from home to send her chosen water types she selected for this competition.
So, she threw out her own ball, Go----!!!Ruby!!! and what would you know it, she too has a Gyarados but hers was shiny.
