Matthew's presence turned the tension in the room into something unbearable.

Kimberly's heart raced as she stood frozen between Michael and Rachel, both armed and dangerous.

The gun in Rachel's hand trembled, while Matthew remained calm, calculating like a predator waiting to strike.

"Matthew..."
Kimberly's voice wavered as she tried to make sense of what was happening.

"What are you doing here?"
Matthew smirked, stepping further into the room.

"Saving you, apparently. Though it looks like you've gotten yourself into quite the mess, haven't you, Kim?"

Kimberly's stomach churned.
She had worked with Matthew for years, trusted him with her life. Now, everything felt like a cruel joke.
Michael's eyes narrowed, his body tense.

"What do you want, Matthew? You've already shown your hand."

Matthew chuckled darkly, his gun still trained on Michael. "You're wrong, Michael. I haven't shown my full hand yet."

Kimberly's mind spun as she tried to process everything.

Was Matthew really working for Michael all along? Or was there another layer to this twisted web?

"Let's be honest, Kimberly," Matthew said, his eyes gleaming.

"You've always been too naive. You thought you could handle this world, but you were wrong. I've been pulling the strings from the beginning."

Kimberly's pulse quickened as she replayed every moment, every mission, every decision.
It was all tainted now, manipulated by the man standing in front of her.
"You were using me," she whispered, anger rising in her chest.

Matthew's smirk faded, replaced by cold calculation.
"I had no choice.

The agency sent you in to get close to Michael, but I knew you'd fall for him.

You were predictable, Kim. You always have been."

Michael's gaze flickered to Kimberly, his jaw clenched, as if processing Matthew's revelation.

"You played her," Michael growled. "You used her feelings for me."

Matthew shrugged, unbothered by Michael's accusation.

"I had to keep her close, control the situation. But now... it's all out in the open. And I'm here to clean up the mess."

Rachel, still standing with her gun trained on Kimberly, finally spoke, her voice laced with venom.

"You're both pathetic. All of you. Michael, you thought you could hide your cartel life from me?

And now I find out you've been playing both sides?"

"Rachel, don't.. " Michael began, but she cut him off with a fierce glare.

"I gave up everything for you, Michael," Rachel hissed, her eyes burning with betrayal.
"You were supposed to protect me. But instead, you bring this agent into our lives?"

Michael's gaze softened slightly, and for a moment, Kimberly saw something almost like regret in his eyes.

"Rachel, I never wanted to hurt you."

Rachel's grip tightened on her gun, and Kimberly could see her resolve wavering.

"It's too late for that, Michael. You've destroyed everything."

Suddenly, Matthew stepped forward, his gun aimed directly at Rachel.
"Enough. You're both liabilities now."

Kimberly's heart pounded in her chest as Matthew's words hung in the air. Liabilities.
He was planning to eliminate them all.

"Matthew, don't do this," Kimberly pleaded, her voice desperate.
"You don't have to kill anyone."

Matthew's eyes locked onto hers, cold and unforgiving.
"You still don't get it, do you? This was never about you.

It was always about power. And now that I have it, I'm not letting anyone stand in my way."

Before Kimberly could react, Matthew fired a shot straight at Rachel.

The sound of the gunshot echoed through the room as Rachel let out a strangled gasp, her body crumpling to the floor.
Blood pooled beneath her, and Kimberly felt a wave of nausea wash over her.

"Rachel!"

Michael roared, his face contorted in rage and pain as he rushed to her side.
Kimberly's mind raced. This wasn't supposed to happen. None of this was supposed to happen.
Matthew's eyes gleamed with triumph as he turned his gun toward Michael.

"You're next."

But before he could pull the trigger, Kimberly moved.
Adrenaline surged through her body as she lunged at Matthew, knocking the gun from his hand.
The two of them struggled, their bodies crashing into furniture as they fought for control.

Kimberly's training kicked in, but Matthew was stronger, more experienced.
He pinned her to the floor, his hand around her throat.

"You were never going to win this game, Kimberly," Matthew hissed, his grip tightening.
But just as Kimberly's vision began to blur, a shot rang out.

Matthew's body went limp, collapsing on top of her. Kimberly gasped for air, pushing him off as she looked up to see Michael standing over them, gun in hand, his face a mask of fury.

"Are you okay?"
Michael's voice was low, controlled, but there was a flicker of concern in his eyes as he reached down to help her up.

Kimberly nodded, her heart still racing. She glanced at Matthew's lifeless body, her mind spinning. The man she had trusted with her life was dead. And now, everything was different.

Michael holstered his gun, his face hardening.

"We need to go. Now."

Kimberly hesitated, her eyes lingering on Rachel's body. Despite everything, she felt a pang of guilt. Rachel had been caught in the crossfire, a victim of a world she couldn't escape.

"Kimberly," Michael said sharply, pulling her out of her thoughts.

"If we don't leave now, more will come. Matthew wasn't working alone."

Kimberly's blood ran cold. Of course. There were always more players in this game.
Without another word, she followed Michael out of the room, her mind still reeling from everything that had just happened.

As they rushed through the darkened halls of Michael's mansion, Kimberly knew one thing for certain, she was no longer just an undercover agent.

She was a fugitive. And Michael was the only person she could trust now.
