Matthew stepped out from the shadows, a smirk plastered on his face.
Rain dripped from his hair as he approached the SUV, his presence chilling Kimberly to the bone.

She could see the familiar glint of arrogance in his eyes, the confidence of a man who believed he had the upper hand.

"Well, well, if it isn't the infamous cartel boss and his lovely entourage,"
Matthew drawled, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

"I must admit, I didn't expect to see you here, Rachel.
I thought you'd be taking a dirt nap by now."

Rachel's eyes blazed with fury as she stepped out of the SUV, despite her injury.

"You should've killed me when you had the chance, Matthew."

Matthew chuckled, the sound sinister against the backdrop of the falling rain.

"But then, where would the fun be? This little game of cat and mouse has only just begun."

Kimberly felt the tension thicken in the air, the danger palpable.

"What do you want, Matthew?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady, but the tremor betrayed her.

Matthew's smirk widened as he stepped closer to the SUV, peering inside at Rose.

"Ah, the little one. So innocent. So perfect for my plans."

Michael surged forward, his expression feral.

"You stay away from her, you bastard!"

"Or what? You'll shoot me?" Matthew laughed, glancing at Michael's gun, still holstered at his side.

"You wouldn't dare. You need me alive if you want to save your precious girl. But don't worry, she's safe for now. I only want to talk."

"Talk?" Kimberly scoffed, anger flaring. "You think we'd fall for that?"

"Ah, but you don't understand the stakes here,"
Matthew said, his tone shifting to something more serious.
"You think you can just waltz away from this life? That Michael can just take you and Rose and disappear into the sunset?

I'm afraid it's not that simple. The cartel isn't just a business, it's a family. And families protect their own."

"What do you mean?" Kimberly pressed, sensing there was more to his twisted logic.

Matthew took a step back, eyes sparkling with malevolence.

"I've got something you want something that could change everything. You want your daughter safe? You want Michael out of this life? I can help you."

"You're lying," Rachel spat, glaring at Matthew.

"You're nothing but a snake."

"Am I?" Matthew retorted, his smile unwavering.

"Or am I your only hope?"

"Enough games!" Michael's voice boomed, cutting through the tension.
"We're not interested in your manipulations."

"Then you'll both die, along with your precious little girl," Matthew said,
the threat hanging in the air like a storm cloud.
"All you have to do is give me what I want a chance to reclaim my place in the cartel.
And I'll ensure that Rose is never touched again."

Kimberly's mind raced.

"And what's your price?" she asked, a part of her feeling sick for even considering his offer.

Matthew took a step closer, his eyes boring into hers.

"You'll help me eliminate Michael. He's a liability, and you know it.
Once he's out of the way, you can take your daughter and leave this life behind.
It's a win-win situation."

Kimberly recoiled at the thought.

"I would never betray Michael."

"Then prepare to watch your daughter suffer the consequences,

"Matthew warned, his tone chilling. "The clock is ticking, Kimberly. Choose wisely."
