"Maa..." Ananya said softly, her tone pleading and sad.
"I can't help you with that, even if you say 'Maa' ten more times," Sumitra replied firmly. "I already told you, it's an order from your dadi. Now get up, I'll help you wear this saree."
"Maa, please," Ananya tried again.
"Your dadi will get angry if we're late. Come now, I'll make gulab jamun for you later if you wear this saree," Sumitra offered.
"Really...?" Ananya's eyes lit up with excitement, like a little child.
"Yes, really," Sumitra confirmed with a smile.
"Come on, Maa, we're getting late! Hurry and get me ready!" Ananya said eagerly, while Sumitra chuckled, watching her daughter light up over such small things.
While Sumitra was doing a simple makeup for Ananya, Ananya asked, "Maa, it's a special day for Dev Bhaiya, so why did Dadi order me to wear a saree?"
