His Solace

Gnawing sense of Guilt

Arjun came back to his mansion in the evening after a long hectic day in his office. He went to his room and took a quick shower. He wore a grey t-shirt with black sweatpants.

"Where is she? I didn't see her after coming back." He thought. "Why am I thinking about her? I have to keep my distance from her."

He tried to distract himself and started scrolling his phone. But still he couldn't shake off her thoughts. After a few minutes, he finally decided to search for her. He came out of his room and looked around but didn't find her. He saw a maid and thought about asking her. The maid told him that Nandini is on the terrace.

He went to the terrace and heard a beautiful sound. He saw her. She was singing.

She was completely engrossed in singing and didn't notice his presence. He was standing behind her while listening to her melodious voice.

Koi baandhani, joda odh ke
Babul ki gali aau chor ke....

He heard the lyrics and his mind drifted to their wedding day. She looked breathtaking in her bridal attire. The red lehenga, golden ornaments. He remembered the way she cried hugging her parents during vidaai. She indeed left her 'babul ki gali' for him.

Tere hi liye laaungi piya
Solah saal ke saavan jod ke
Pyaar se thamna...dor bareek hai
Saat janmon ki ye pehli tareekh hai...

The lyrics she was singing were indeed true. The thread of their bond is really delicate. Claiming what they have as bond itself is complicated.

Today is indeed the first day of their marriage. But seven lives? According to the contract their relationship will last only one year. It was really unfair for the girl who doesn't even know about the contract on which her marriage is based.

Arjun's mind couldn't help but think about how unfair everything was for Nandini. They are hiding a truth that can shatter her fragile heart.

Yes they were two ends of a thread. Those ends who can never meet. Arjun was doubting his own decision of marrying her while hiding such a big truth. Did he do right by marrying her? Did he deserve her? How will she react when she will get to know the truth? Will she hate him?

"I wish I never become the reason of your heartbeat. I don't deserve you." He thought looking at her with guilt in his eyes.

He went downstairs with a heavy heart. The maids asked him for dinner but he refused and went to his room.

After sometime, Nandini came downstairs and went near Bhavya.
"Did he come back from his office?" Nandini asked.

"Yes. He came back a while ago." Bhavya replied.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Nandini again asked.

"You told me that you were practicing for your upcoming show. So, I initially thought that I shouldn't disturb you. Then, I decided to inform you. But before I could inform you, he asked about you to another maid and went to the terrace. Didn't you meet him?" Bhavya asked.

"He came to terrace? How could I not notice him?" Nandini whispered while frowning. "Did he have his dinner?" She asked.

"No. We asked him to have his dinner but he refused." Bhavya replied.
"Okay. I will check on him." Nandini said and went to his room.
