suguru was not doing well.

two days. it had been two days since he had last saw nanako and mimiko, and he was going crazy. it seemed like it.

two days ago, someone from the village, who suguru must have missed, had visited them on a walk. they were just playing in the woods, just having fun. like kids, like how they were supposed to.

they must have gotten taken, because there was no way they wouldn't have come back. they loved it here, they weren't the rebellious type, and suguru said he could have sworn he heard a scream of his name in the woods.

it was the village. he was sure of it, there was no doubt in his mind.

satoru was worried too, by this time his leg had healed up and he mostly back to normal, so he had helped search. all day, and even in the late hours of the night, he would have to drag suguru back to the house.

suguru hadn't slept. not a wink, he had been looking all over. he even went back to the old village, or what was left of it. he looked there, but there was nothing.

nothing at all.

on the third day, satoru had gotten him to lay down. he was jittery and rigid, but he got his sleeping meds in him, and he was out.

satoru had promised him that he would look when he was asleep, but just before he did, he decided to look in their room for the tenth time in the past three days. nothing again.

it was most likely someone from jujutsu high, or someone from the village, wanting to cause suguru pain, or just kill the innocent girls they hate.

he blames himself. he should have been there when they went on the walk, he should have convinced suguru that his leg was fine and already recovered, and something like "oh, it's been a month suguru, cmon."

he sighed, leaving the room and closing the door.

he decided to check the forest again. there was nothing there before, so why would there be anything now? he didn't know.

he peeled off his blindfold, letting it rest around his neck before looking around. he blinked rapidly at the sudden information, but didn't reject it.

"nanako? mimiko?" he yelled out, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "you guys here?"

nothing, to be expected. what would you expect in the cold dead of night? who in their right mind would be walking around in mid january?

he glanced over at some bushes, shivering as some wind cut through his sweater. it was cold, surely suguru wouldn't mind... wait a minute.

he saw the bush bend, and someone emerged from it, seemingly unaware of him. he was carrying a letter, and was crouched over himself, almost as if to hide from something.

or... someone?

"hey," he called out, turning towards him. he frowned when he didn't hear him, raising his voice. "you deaf or something, old man?"
