After parting with Ayanakouji-kun I made my way to the convenience store. Inside I picked up a cart and started making my way through the store picking up everything I could need. Since Aiyuki might come too I had to make something for him too.
He doesn't have a favorite dish in particular he will feast upon anything that I made as long as it was nutritious, but looking at his face today I feel as if he wasn't getting a proper diet. He looks more pale, you could say.
"Is he... alright?" I silently muttered to myself. "I mean... he has to be right, he's Aiyuki after all..."
I realized I had started talking to myself and lightly slapped myself on the cheek. I picked up a few instant noodles in case he doesn't feel much hungry, so I'll just make instant noodles for him, the food he has the most memories with. I also picked up some chicken breasts to make the noodles nutritious in case he decides to go with them, as well as some vegetables for fiber. A balanced meal must have all the important nutrients like fats, carbs, and protein.
I extended my arm to pick up a box of spices but in the middle of dropping it to my cart, I felt an unexplainable anger rising in my mind as I squeezed the box quite hard.
Smoking? Seriously? In front of the school? In front of the school, your father is the chairman of? What was he thinking?!
After Ayanakouji-kun walked away from me I stood there silently observing him smoking a cigarette, my mind wasn't able to process seeing him after such a long time, and when I do this is how he is. This is what he's been up to? How is that fair? To me, or anyone?
He didn't even look in my direction, not even once! It has been almost 4 years since we spoke to each other and-
Clack! Clack! Clack!
I was pulled out of my thoughts by the clicking sound that had entered the store. I realized the box of spice I had been crushing was on the verge of exploding so I put it back on the shelf and picked up a new one and placed it in my cart. I tried to act cool, calm, and collected but my mind would again start thinking of him, but I must not because the current predicament was something I had to come out of unphased.
"Fufu, what a surprise to see you here Horikita-san," A sound came from my right.
I turned my head mechanically in that direction and looked down at the smug look of Sakayanagi Arisu, the daughter of the school's chairman, and the brother of Nakata Aiyuki.
After finding Aiyuki who was orphaned without a home or any means of support, her father decided to bring him into his family. At least, that's what the story is for the Japanese public, but if you know Aiyuki even slightly more than the average person you could tell that the story is much more than it meets the eye.
"It's nice to see you, Sakayanagi-san."
She smiled smugly in my direction and blinked, once her eyes opened she spoke, "You sure have changed Horikita-san."
"Huh?" That was random. "How come?"
"It's just a feeling, I suppose, fufu. Although I was really sad you didn't come to talk to me yourself, I had to get up and come here myself."
"Shouldn't you be in the entrance ceremony?" I asked knowing that my question was rather dumb.
"Well, do you think I count as an injured person? Instead, I should be the one asking you what brings you here."
"Groceries, I suppose. I wasn't feeling well so I decided to skip on the ceremony."
I turned my head and started picking up more daily necessities. Sakayanagi-san bought a cart of her own and started picking the things she may need.
