Chapter 24 - I'm Not Going to Press Charges

MIRIAM'S BEDROOM

Sandra breaks into Miriam's room, she was happier making her bed.

"Can I know what you were doing hugging your rival?"

Miriam replies still staring at the mattress, "A good day to you too, dear!"

Sandra shakes her head and asks impatiently, "Miriam, tell me something: did you forgive Monica?"

Miriam looks at Sandra, "I honestly don't understand the reason for your exasperation. And how did you know, were you spying on me?"

"They left the door wide open and I heard voices. I had to check."

"You 'had'... You were just dying of curiosity; assume, so you're more honest."

Sandra becomes annoyed, "And so, will you answer me..."

"OK! Monica came here and assured me that she doesn't want anything to do with Carlos. And honestly, on Saturday, she didn't have the same strong reaction as Carina. We can discard her."

"Are you sure about that?"

"Yes, she must be focused on Célio. I heard that she is writing a novel, I want to read it when it's published."

"Me too... But, I don't think it's Célio the lucky guy. There is a huge confusion between her, Fábio Dance, and Fábia Peres."

"So can we focus on our subject? I also visited Carlos yesterday and asked for forgiveness for drinking on the date. He said that when I was drunk I ended up dropping everything off."

Sandra has a syncope, "Did you mention our plan?!"

"He didn't say that I mentioned you, just Monica and Carina."

Sandra relieves herself; it only matters to her if Miriam talked about her and not the others, "Less bad."

"But, we need to act. Monica said that Carlos was going to Carina's house, but that she stopped her. And she told me that I need to review the strategy, because the way we are, we're only attracting his attention to the unworthy girl!"

Sandra ponders, "Yeah, sometimes Monica gets it right. So from now on, if the two are together, we won't interrupt. The best way to attack is by getting closer to him. Your advantage is that you dare to go to his house—"

Miriam reacts with perversion, "Seeing him shirtless, just wearing shorts..."

Sandra talks up, "While the dead-fly lady feels embarrassed."

Miriam and Sandra end up laughing. Once again, Sandra's laugh is forced.

MEDICAL STATION

In an empty room, Ricardo, already awake, is taken by a nurse inside with care. There's a band on his head. The nurse helps him to lie down on the fixed gurney.

"You'll be fine, the doctor is coming, but it will be quick."

Ricardo replies in a weak tone, "That's good news."

"I'll be right back."

The nurse leaves. Ricardo is leaning against the wall, thinking about life. He remembers when he tried to calm a terrified Carina

"No, Carina, it's not like that... You don't have to tremble with fear, I don't want to scare you..."

Ricardo is still standing, waiting, without reaction. Behind him, without him noticing, Carina appears. She is distressed.
