Mayukh POV:

I drove fast to university.
I knew she's back, but would she come to class?

I couldn't wait anymore. It had been a month since she left and that entire month got spent in trying to uncover Riya's truth. I couldn't go to London to see her and now I can't wait. It's been too long. I need to see her.
I had texted Aisha, who told me that she headed off to class.

Finally, I reached and my eyes went on the one girl who makes it impossible to look away.
She sat there in her black dress and denim jacket with her hair braided. Her eyes glued ahead. I know she could sense me there, she tried her best to not look at me.
I chuckled.

I sat down at the back row. It was impossible to pay attention to the lecture when what I want is sitting in front of me.
When will this lecture end?!

After almost 2 hours, I finally got the green light. When everyone was packing up, I signaled to the class to hurry up and leave. Everyone noticed and hurried up and left. Nikita was busy writing in her book so she didn't realize, and thankfully that Ayush guy noticed too and quickly left.
He better not have told her anything.

I walked up to her slowly while noticing her actions. She started to pack her stuff and then placed her phone by her ear trying to talk.
She looked like a mess.
I chuckled and went closer to her.
She sensed me and stiffened. I saw her hurry up and quickly pack her stuff and start to head out when I grabbed her hand just before she left the room. I pulled her back in and closed the door.

She stood caged between the wall and me.
Her eyes refusing to meet mine.
I missed her additive scent.
I slowly traced my finger along her arm while she looked down, her body stiff.
"I missed you." I whispered.
Getting no reply from her, I continued, "How was your internship?"
She didn't talk.
I know she'd be mad, or she'd be scared.
"Mishbo...." I said, lifting her chin up using my hand, "look at me. I've missed seeing your eyes."Her eyes met mine and I felt a jolt in my stomach. I haven't seen her in a month.
"How are you?" I asked.
She nodded quickly.
"Words." I replied.
"G...Good." She whispered.
I missed your voice, mishbo.
"I missed you."
She suddenly scoffed, "Sure."
What was that for?
"Why that reaction?" I asked.
I knew the answer. I was scared to hear it.
"You know why." She said, not looking at me, "I need to go." She tried to break free.
"No point struggling. You're not going until I get my answer."
"I don't need to answer you." She said, her voice getting harsher every second.
I hadn't seen this side of her.
"Nikita... Let me explain, then get angry."
"Neither do I want an explanation from you and neither am I angry. We only get angry on those who we care about." She scoffed and pushed herself away and walked off, leaving me alone in that room.

What was that reaction?

I drove home, where my brothers waited for me to hear about the day. I could still feel the hate in her voice and the harshness in her tone.
It pierced my heart.
"How did it go?" Ved asked.
"Don't ask." I said, looking down keeping my phone on the table, "I messed up."
"What?" Gautam Dada said, "What did you do?"
"She said and I quote, 'Neither do I want an explanation from you and neither am I angry. We only get angry on those who we care about.'"
"Damn." Arup said.

"Why wouldn't she say that?" We followed the voice to see Mom at the entrance of the room.
"Mom?" I asked, "What?"
"I know about your plan Mayukh. It was horrible. You knew you're pushing Nikita away by doing this and you still did it."
"Mom... I wanted to let Riya leave her alone."
"In the process of doing that, you pushed her away too. You knew she liked you."
"She was already gone by then."
"Beta..." Mom said coming closer, "you aren't going to find a girl better than Nikita. Keep her. You messed up, and now you better fix it."
"I will but I don't know how to."
"Just be yourself. Don't be fake, you want to help her get over her fear, fine, but you don't need to push yourself away. Be her shield, not a silent partner. Be with her or in front of her, not away from her."
"Thanks Mom."
"Now, go back there and make things right."
"I will."

It was Saturday the next day. I had planned to make things better. I walked to her house and was greeted by Aisha and Krutika.
"Hi.." I said, "Is..."
"Inside." Aisha said.
"Is she okay to..."
"She's going to be hard to crack but you can try."
"I will."
"We'll be heading out now. Enjoy!" Aisha said.
"No you can stay, it's your house."
"Relax!" Krutika chuckled, "We have plans anyway. She isn't coming because she's sleepy."
"Alright."
"Best of luck."

They left and shut the door and I locked it and entered the hall properly. I walked towards her room and slowly knocked.
"One second!" She said from inside. I heard her footsteps increase as she slowly opened the door while talking, "Hi! Sorry man I was —"
She froze.
"Hi." I said, leaning against her door.
"What... are you doing here?"
"I'm here for you babe."
"W...what?"
I walked in, ignoring her repulsion, and sat on her bed, "I need to talk to you."
"I told you I don't want to talk."
"Here's the thing... I don't listen." I winked.
She didn't reply, just glared at me.
"You look hot when you're angry." I said.
She immediately looked away and I chuckled.
"Can I take you out for lunch?" I asked her.
"No."
"Niki, you really need to know why I did what I did before you make assumptions." I said getting up, "if you don't understand then as well, then I'll not bother you again."
She looked at me in disbelief.
"Mishbo.." I said, putting my hand in hers, "just hear me out once."
"I'm not eating with you."
"That's a shame. I want to eat with you."
"Too bad. We don't always get what we want."
"That's where you're wrong. I always get what I want."
She rolled her eyes.
"As much as I want to be the one making you roll your eyes, I'd rather it's in the bedroom babe."
She gasped and glared at me, "shameless."
"Can we eat?"
"I'm not leaving the house." She said.
"Okay! I'll make us lunch here." I said and grabbed her hand and took her to the kitchen.
"Ma...Mayukh." I heard her say while she was being dragged.
"Yes, my love."
"Let me go."
"Okay!" I said and let her hand go as we reached the kitchen. She was about to leave but I blocked the entrance, "Not so fast." I came closer to her.
