Inside I kept muttering that I had to find a way to get out of here, that if I stayed any longer I was afraid I would go crazy. The caretaker led me to another bench and sat down, saying the same thing. I sat there stiffly, basking in the so-called "sun". The guard said she was busy, but I could feel myself being watched. The fluorescent light above my head burned me like an ant on a hot pan. Had she been watching me like this every day of my former blindness? The voice wouldn't have alerted me for no reason, and the janitor wouldn't have stared at me for no reason. She stared at me all the time. Had she sensed that I had regained my sight when I had just locked eyes with her? What would I have to do to allay her suspicions? I stood up and groped my way back, knowing there was an obstacle ahead, but still pretending not to know about it as I walked forward. Just as I was about to fall, a pair of hands stopped me. "Are you going back, why didn't you call me, there were pillars in front of me, I almost fell". "I saw you never came back, thought you were busy. I thought I should be able to feel my way back since I've traveled this road so many times."
