Just outside a luxurious mansion, cars lined up in rows at the entrance, and security guards were seen almost every six feet away from each other, each one holding a gun and preparing to do their job.

People walked into the mansion, each one looking elegant and well dressed as if attending a met gala, their unique outfits stood out and the same could be said for their rides.

There were a few banners at the entrance to the mansion indicating that it was the director's party aimed at celebrating the success of a previous movie. The majority of the guests were the cast from the movies, some were recognizable members of the crew while others were fellow celebrity guests.

A certain car pulled up at the parking lot, nothing exotic but not bad looking either, seeing a driver in front and a passenger behind, the security guards immediately assumed that it was a taxi, and so far from what they had seen, none of the guests at this events arrived with a taxi, so they were alerted, ready to question whoever it was that will step out of the car.

Jason stepped out of his car, dressed in a white shirt and black pants. He didn't put so much effort into dressing, he didn’t want to be at the party in the first place if not because of Jennifer. Plus, he was going to use this as an opportunity to watch the drama unfold when Melissa is not announced as the lead actress.

He had barely taken a step towards the mansion when two security guards blocked his path, sizing him up and concluding that he was not worthy to attend this party.

“Look who came here,” a familiar voice called from behind him and Jason let out a sigh in frustration. If only Melissa would be quiet whenever she saw him, he'd not feel this irritated.

He had yet to speak with the security guards who had stopped him, and now his ex-wife as well, Jason knew that this wouldn't end well.

“I almost thought you were going to let him in,”.Alex added, giving the security guards a deadly stare,

“I mean look at him, does he look like a person that was invited to this party…

“I know right?” Melissa interjected, interlocking her elbow with Alex’s in front of Jason just to prove a point.

“Because you heard me mention that I was going to the director's party, you also came along and thought you'd walk in freely? Just so you know, this party is high class only, not for beggars.”

Without batting an eye at Jason, the couple walked into the mansion, leaving Jason to answer to the security guards on his own, and this was what he didn't want to do. At the moment, he just took out his phone to call Harry for the arrangement but before he could dial the number, Jennifer walked up to him from behind.

She had also just gotten to the party and was shocked to see that Jason hadn't gone in yet. She didn't bother to ask what was going on and approached Jason with a smile.

“I was trying to call you sir so that we would come together, I didn't realize that you had come already. “

The security guards immediately recognised her face, Jennifer Blackwood was quite a popular figure amongst them, and for her to address this common man with so much regard, it could only mean that this was someone important despite what Melissa had made them believe.

Without asking him any questions, they let both of them into the mansion, with Jennifer walking side by side with Jason like a companion. But as soon as they got into the banquet hall, Jennifer got distracted by the number of actors and actresses that crowded her, asking where she had been all day.

Seeing this, Jason just smiled and looked for a seat by the corner of the hall and sat down to stare at all the people that he made who they were in secret, yet none of them recognised him because he kept himself hidden just for the sake of a woman that still left him without remorse.

He quickly paved off those thoughts and distracted himself with his phone in the meantime. He ordered something to eat because he hadn't had a single meal all day, and while the food was yet to arrive, his eyes caught a glimpse of Melissa up ahead and it was too late to look away because their eyes met.

Jason knew that she was going to come there once again, because when it came to embarrassing him in public, Melissa was not ashamed to do the most. But when he looked in her direction she was no longer there and he chose not to care about where she had gone, at least her absence was a relief.

The waiter brought what he had ordered and placed it on his table, a plate of chicken nuggets, a small bowl of vegetable salad with dipping sauce, some fries and a glass of cold apple juice.

He thanked the waiter and proceeded to feed his hungry tummy, but then his ex-wife returned, this time with two security guards, different from the ones that had stopped him at the entrance.

Jason couldn't help but wonder why he still had to put up with his ex-wife's behaviour, considering that they were no longer together.

“Only God knows what she is planning to do this time,” He sighed heavily and waited for the next stage of her unfinished drama to unfold.
