Roman reached up and punched the air. Romulus was doing flips in his mind. She wanted him. June loved him. Even with all his missteps, misdeeds, she loved him. The pain of losing Ruby, of ending things, the decision to leave his pack if she truly wanted him to, to lose his whole family - it was worth it, all of it was worth it for this moment. It didn't even matter that they might end up living as rogues - all that mattered was that his fated mate loved him. Roman kissed June. But once wasn't enough. He gave her tiny kisses all over her face.
"Roman," she giggled, "what are you doing?"
"I love you so much, I want to shout it to the world."
Roman reached his arms out and shouted, "I love June! I, Roman, future Alpha of the Canis pack, love June!"
His voice echoed over the hills and birds flew out of the trees. He turned to June, seated on the hill top. She was bathed in moonlight, her hair parted to the side allowing it to cascade from one side of her to the other, running over her right breast. When they transformed back from wolves, they were bare already, naked as the Moon Goddess had made them. The silvery glow of the goddess accentuated her cheekbones, it drew shadows from her collarbones. His eyes wandered further down his mate's body, past her generous chest, and down to her delicious hips before he couldn't help but look back up at her beautiful, kind face. It was like the Moon Goddess made June just for him and gave him one final chance to be a part of her world. Roman would never let her go.
He dropped to the ground next to her and leaned over to kiss her again. She was laughing almost too hard to return it. "Roman, you are ridiculous!"
"All because of you, my love," his grin almost split his face, "I have literally never been this happy in my life."
She gave him a soft smile, her laughter subsiding. June trailed her index finger on his jaw, her eyes covering his face as though she were trying to memorize it. "I don't think I have either," she admitted, staring directly into his eyes.
"I love you so much, but I don't know if I can move back, you know?"
"I know -"
"There's still so much to figure out. I'll need to face my parents again. And I know you said you and Ruby are over, but she's definitely not going to be happy when you show back up to the pack with me."
"June -"
"And then there's your parents, what will they think of me? Oh my Goddess," she paused, looking horrified, "Roman, your parents would hate me - I'm an Omega. There's just so much, I don't know how I will face it, or if I ever can."
"June!" Roman cupped her face in his hands, interrupting her panic, "I already told you, and I meant it. If you will not come back, I will come live out here with you. I swear on my life, we will never be apart. We will never not be one with each other. You will always be mine from now to forever, and if that means I leave my life behind," Roman swallowed the lump in his throat, "then that is a sacrifice I am willing to make."
She started to tear up, from happiness or otherwise, Roman wasn't sure. And in part, he didn't care. He never wanted to see her cry again. "Oh no you don't!" he growled jokingly and threw himself flat onto the ground pulling her on top of him. Their skin felt almost on fire from the reaction of contact between mates. Roman felt himself hardening from just the contact of her skin on his.
June's eyes shone with the depth of their love. She leaned down and kissed him this time, a gentle kiss that told Roman how much she trusted him, how much she was already one with him.
Roman wreathed her hair into his fingers and pulled her closer, wrapping his other arm around her back. He was happy to just keep kissing her like this, kisses that told the story of a pair of werewolves in love.
