It had been a few days since Y/N and Mr. Le came up with their plan, and the eerie texts from Emmy had only gotten worse. She was relentless, sending messages at all hours, questioning Y/N’s every move and hinting at her presence in places where she shouldn’t have been. Y/N had done her best to stick to the plan, keeping her distance, always staying around friends like Avery, and documenting everything, but the tension was becoming unbearable.
Y/N sat in her chemistry class, trying to focus on the lesson, but her phone buzzed in her bag again. She glanced around nervously before slipping it out to check the latest message from Emmy.
Emmy: I know where you are right now. You think you can hide from me?
Y/N’s breath hitched. This had gone too far. She glanced at Mr. Le, who was helping another group with their lab. He caught her eye for a brief moment, and she gave a slight nod. They had agreed—if things escalated, she would tell him immediately.
As soon as the bell rang, Y/N packed her things quickly and made her way up to Mr. Le’s desk. Her heart pounded in her chest, but she was ready. She wasn’t going to let Emmy’s threats control her anymore.
“Mr. Le, it’s happening again,” Y/N said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Mr. Le’s face darkened as he stood up, gesturing for her to follow him out of the classroom. “Alright, let’s go. We’ll take this to the office.”
Y/N followed him, her heart racing. She wasn’t sure what would happen next, but she knew it was time to put an end to Emmy’s behavior.
When they reached the front office, Mr. Le asked to speak to the principal. After a few tense minutes, Y/N found herself sitting in the principal’s office with Mr. Le by her side, explaining everything that had happened—the texts, the threats, the constant surveillance that Emmy had been implying. She showed them the messages, scrolling through the dozens of unsettling texts Emmy had sent.
The principal, Ms. Herrera, frowned deeply as she examined the evidence. “This is serious, Y/N. We can’t allow this kind of behavior to continue.”
“I didn’t know what else to do,” Y/N said quietly, glancing at Mr. Le. “She’s my girlfriend, but she’s scaring me.”
Ms. Herrera nodded sympathetically. “You did the right thing by coming forward. We’re going to handle this. Right now, we need to get Emmy in here.”
Within minutes, Emmy was escorted into the office by one of the school administrators. She looked calm, almost smug, as if she didn’t realize what was coming. But the moment she saw Y/N and Mr. Le sitting with the principal, her expression shifted. Her eyes narrowed, and her jaw tightened.
“What’s going on?” Emmy asked, her voice cold.
Ms. Herrera gestured for her to sit down. “Emmy, we’ve received some troubling information. Y/N has brought to our attention a series of threatening messages you’ve been sending her.”
Emmy’s eyes flicked to Y/N, anger flashing in them. “Threatening? I wasn’t threatening her. I was just... looking out for her.”
Ms. Herrera’s expression remained stern. “The messages we’ve reviewed tell a different story. It’s clear that your behavior has crossed a line, and we cannot tolerate this kind of harassment in our school.”
Emmy’s face twisted into a mix of shock and fury. “She’s exaggerating! I didn’t do anything wrong! She’s mine—I was just protecting what’s mine!”
Y/N’s heart sank at Emmy’s words. The possessiveness in her voice, the refusal to take responsibility—it was all too clear now. This wasn’t love. This was control.
Ms. Herrera sighed, shaking her head. “Emmy, regardless of your intentions, your actions have made Y/N feel unsafe. We have no choice but to take disciplinary action.”
“What?!” Emmy stood up, her voice rising. “You can’t do this! I was just—”
“Enough,” Ms. Herrera interrupted firmly. “We take the safety of our students seriously, and this behavior is unacceptable. Effective immediately, you are being placed in the Alternative Learning Center (ALC) for the remainder of the semester. You will not have any further contact with Y/N, and we will be notifying your parents about this incident.”
Emmy’s face turned pale, and for the first time, Y/N saw genuine fear in her eyes. “You can’t just send me away!”
Ms. Herrera stood up, her tone unyielding. “This is not up for debate. You have violated the school’s harassment policies, and this is the consequence. If there’s any further behavior like this, we will escalate the matter to law enforcement.”
Emmy’s hands clenched into fists at her sides, but she didn’t say another word. The administrator escorted her out of the office, leaving Y/N sitting there, a mix of relief and sadness swirling inside her. Emmy had been sent to ALC, but this wasn’t how she had wanted things to end. Yet, it had to be done. Emmy’s actions had become dangerous.
Mr. Le placed a hand on Y/N’s shoulder, his voice gentle. “You did the right thing, Y/N. I know it wasn’t easy, but you stood up for yourself.”
Y/N nodded, wiping away a tear that had slipped down her cheek. “I just didn’t think it would end like this.”
Ms. Herrera offered her a kind smile. “You’re safe now, Y/N. And that’s what matters.”
As Y/N left the office, the weight of the past few weeks seemed to lift slightly from her shoulders. Emmy’s control over her was broken, and for the first time in a long time, she felt like she could breathe again.
