Chapter 37: The Disappearance
Time Skip - Two Weeks Later
The seat where Y/N usually sat was empty.
The classroom buzzed with quiet murmurs as students exchanged glances, whispering among themselves. It wasn't like Y/N to just not show up, especially not for two weeks straight. At first, everyone assumed she was just sick or taking an extended break. But as the days stretched on with no word from her, concern started to spread.
Mr. Le, as usual, remained unreadable behind his mask, carrying on as if nothing was amiss. If he was worried, he didn't show it. But something about the way he barely acknowledged her empty desk made Eliana suspicious.
"Dude," she whispered to Caterina, who was flipping through her notebook. "You think it's weird that Y/N just... vanished?"
Caterina sighed, tapping her pen against her paper. "Maybe. But it's not like we're that close. She never really said much."
Eliana frowned. "Still. It's weird. No texts, no social media updates, nothing. I even asked around-nobody's seen her outside of school either."
Mr. Le started pacing, explaining another concept about gas laws, his tone the same as always. But as he turned to write on the board, Eliana caught something-just a brief flicker of something tense in his posture.
She narrowed her eyes. He knows something.
As class dragged on, the unease settled in deeper. Then, just as the bell was about to ring, something strange happened.
Mr. Le paused mid-sentence, glanced toward Y/N's empty seat, and exhaled sharply. Then, under his breath-so quietly that only those closest could hear-he muttered:
"She's really gone, huh...?"
Eliana's breath hitched. What?
Before she could react, the bell rang.
And just like that, Mr. Le straightened up, grabbed his papers, and walked out of the room like nothing had happened.
But Eliana knew.
She wasn't imagining it.
Something was wrong.
And Mr. Le was hiding something.
