It wasn't often that Peridot dressed in his fancy clothes. His typical attire consisted of a polo or dress shirt and slacks. But this time, he decided to go all out for his first 'official' date. He settled on a grey suit that would match Lapis' signature color. He ensured the suit had no wrinkles before putting them on. Before leaving, he sprayed on one of his favorite colognes, adding a finishing touch to his ensemble.
"Nice suit, Boss." Emerald and Citrine sat in the lounge, waiting for Peridot to get dressed.
"It's a nice cologne, too, Boss. It fits you well." Citrine chimed in.
Peridot checked his watch. "If we don't leave now, we will be late to pick Lapis up. And you guys know I like to be on time."
"Gotcha, Boss. We'll bring the limo round."
Peridot took a final look in the mirror, taking in his appearance. His hair was combed to the side, giving him a more refined, mature look. He adjusted his time one last time and smoothed the fabric of his suit jacket before nodding to himself in satisfaction. Peridot made his way out front to get into the limousine. He gave directions to Emerald so he could head in the right direction to Lapis' apartment.
They arrived at the apartments right on time. Peridot's heart started to race in his chest. He took a moment to compose himself before stepping out of the limousine. He ran a hand through his hair, messing up his comb-over. Peridot walked up to the third floor, the end of the hallway, and arrived at Lapis' door. He paused outside the door, gathering his thoughts and settling the butterflies in his stomach. It was a little foolish, he thought, to be this nervous. He was known for being confident, a no-nonsense man who didn't hesitate to take charge. But there he was, standing outside a door and feeling like a schoolboy picking up his prom date. He swallowed his nerves and knocked on the door.
There was a moment of silence before he heard footsteps from inside the apartment. The door opened slowly, revealing Lapis standing there in all her beauty. Her shoulder-length hair was parted to the side in loose waves. She wore a knee-length royal blue dress, accessorized with a simple necklace and wristlet. The dress hugged all her curves in the right places, with the neckline dipping dangerously low, showcasing her cleavage and sending a jolt through Peridot's body. He took in her appearance with awe and desire, unable to tear his eyes away from her beautiful form. The way her hair framed her face, the way her blue dress hugged her curves, it left him all breathless.
Peridot's mouth was suddenly dry. "Lapis, you look... incredible." he managed to say, his voice a little hoarse.
Lapis blushed a little at the husky tone of his voice and the clear desire in his eyes. She took a moment to appreciate the sight of him, all dressed up in his suit. The grey fabric was a stark contrast against his olive skin and made his eyes pop.
"You don't look too bad yourself." she said with a sly smile, her eyes raking up and down his body.
"So, are you ready to go?" Peridot asks.
Lapis nodded in response. "Yep, let me get my purse." she said and returned to her apartment for a moment. She emerged a few seconds later with a small blue handbag. "Ready." she declared, closing and locking the door behind her as she stepped out of her apartment. Lapis took Peridot's arm and led them to the elevator to go downstairs. Peridot felt a jolt through his arm at Lapis' touch, but he kept his cool. The walk to the limousine passed in a blur, his mind more focused on the feel of her hand on his arm than anything else. He opened the car door for her and waited for her to settle before closing it. He walked around to the other side and got in beside her, closing the door with a soft thump.
"So, where are we going?" Lapis asks, inching closer to Peridot.
Peridot placed a hand on her thigh, relishing in the feel of the silk of her dress under his palm. "It's a surprise," he replied, his voice low and seductive. "But I think you'll enjoy it." He gave her thigh a light squeeze, his touch lingering a moment longer than necessary.
