Parth's POV
"Ok, Maa. We are coming" Sanskriti said on the phone. "Buffalo ... Maa, and Nanna will reach the campus in a few minutes. They want to meet us before boarding the train to Chennai" she said.
"Bye Parth. Text me as soon as you move into your new room" said Dhruv and I waved them bye.
Arshika looked at me and said "So?" and I asked, "What so?".
"What is as you wish?" she confronted and I said "A sentence maybe".
"That is what Appa says to Amma most of the time. And you look at Sansie the way Appa looks at Amma" she stated. "Are you out of sense Eeki?" I asked. "Don't lie Anna. You and Appa have the same eyes and his look softens whenever he sees Amma. That is how your eyes are whenever you see Sanskriti" she said strongly. "I mean she is beautiful, kind, and interesting. How can I catch feelings in just twenty minutes?" I asked. "Appa fell for Amma within five minutes just because she was being frank and dared to question her professor" she explained. "And also, Dr Prakriti and Mr Tanmay had known each other only for ten minutes before they agreed to get married" said Arshika. "Who are they?" I asked and she replied "Sanskriti's elder sister and brother-in-law" and I nodded. "Maybe, I like her passion. She said I chose this stream for the sake of service not for the greed of money. I liked that" I opened up. "And you like her. Don't try to fool yourself, Anna. Question yourself." she argued. "No Arshika. She called me rude. Maybe I don't deserve her. She is full of warmth and I-" Arshi interrupted and said "Shut up will you? She has the warmth that we need. I never felt this comfortable with anyone else before. But yesterday, when she spoke with me, I trusted her. I let her know about our family."
"Yes, even Dhruv is magic. I get along with him and it is bizarre" I said. Okay Parth. She is your sister and your only best friend. Time to disclose whatever is going through you.
"Arshi, I dont know if I like her. I feel unusual today. I get carried away whenever she speaks to me. In the morning when we bumped into each other, she said my collar and hair looked disgusting. That was what Amma said in the video call. She resembles Amma a lot. I cant help but admire her" I opened up. "I get that feeling Anna. But you cannot deny the truth that you like her. It's not even been a day since I met her but I already know so much. And what did Appa teach us? He taught us that to know a person's character a precise sentence from their mouth is more than enough. She spoke too much. I know that she is good at heart. It is fine to like someone this soon." she asserted. "Yes, I like her" I said and she jumped saying "I knew it" and I laughed.
I love my sister very much. She gives me a lucid view of myself. She knows me better than myself. Whenever I am in a dilemma, she is the one who shows me the path. And yes, she did it again.
We left the canteen and I dropped Arshika at the girls hostel. I made my way to the boys hostel and entered my new room just to see Dhruv sitting there.
"Hey man! Good to see you here" said Dhruv. "Yes, I am your roommate" I said and saw something in Dhruv's hands. It is a small polaroid photo frame.
"The girl in the middle is our elder sister"he said. "Cute" I replied while staring at Sanskriti in that picture. She looked adorable while sleeping. I started unpacking my luggage. I took my guitar out from my bag and Dhruv asked "Do you play it?" and I replied "Yes, I do. I also sing".
"That is cool" Dhruv said and he asked me to play something. I played and Dhruv sang along with me. Just then, a message from an unkown number popped up on my screen.
"Hi , I am Sanskriti. Got your number from Aaru. I am sorry for my livid behaviour in the morning. I should not have called you stupid." said the message.
"Hey Shortcake! It is fine. No worries" I sent back.
I saw her profile photo. She looked ravishing.
I had to force myself from diverting my eyes away from her as Dhruv might not like someone gazing his sister.
I and Dhruv spoke about our interests when Sanskriti called her twin.
"Okay, I'll join" he said and cut the call. "My sister and bro-in-law are about to board their flight to Germany. I will have to join a conference he said.
"Hi YoYo and Champ! Safe travels" he said on the phone "Hey Akki and Senor, Bon voyage" screamed Shortcake's voice. "Thank you both ! We'll miss you" they said.
I could tell Sanskriti is raised in a family which nurtured ethics and values into her. I was fond of how they respected their parents, elder sister and her husband. It is pretty evident they were all close just like me and Arshi.
"Dhruv, would you like some cookies which I baked?" I offered. "Oh you bake? That's nice. Even betaal loves to cook and bake but she always burns something" he said laughing.
"Nice" I remarked. "You got excellent cullinary skills" complimented Dhruv and I thanked him. We spoke for sometime and it was time for lunch. I was excited to meet Sanskriti once again.
