Hey any of you ever gone busking?
I just went two days in a row, which is a first and I'm absolutely wrecked now--especially my voice and feet.
So two days ago I went with an old school friend, I played piano and he played sax. Y'all know I absolutely love jazz music, so I pulled up some charts and got some sheets from friends and we went out and did some improvised solos.
That was surprisingly the first time he'd done an improvised solo, which was pretty shocking considering the epic riffs he ripped on the alto sax. I was doing my thing on piano, and I did have to tone down the usual dissonant sounds of my solos for a less jazz-educated public crowd.
Anyways, yesterday I also went with my siblings, which is something we've done before and it's always really fun. We play some old songs, like the Beatles, we do a couple classics like Singin' in the Rain and My Favourite Things.
That was really fun, I played the harmonica for Love Me Do by the Beatles, even though I've played for only a week and a half and I actually managed alright. My older sister plays guitar and sings, I play piano and sing and my younger sister just sings.
We also played Geronimo by Sheppard (which is oddly enough like us, an Aussie band made up of two girls and one guy, all siblings whose last name is in their band name).
THAT SONG IS IN FREAKING G MAJOR.
MY RANGE GOES UP TO PERHAPS AN F ABOVE MIDDLE C IF IM LUCKY. FOR ALL YOU NON MUSICIANS I BASICALLY EXTENDED MY VOCAL RANGE TWO STEPS. I'VE ALSO JUST RECOVERED FROM A COLD SO THAT WAS A REALLY REALLY HARD STRETCH.
It was hard. But I freaking did it.
Anyways, I can't talk now.
