Another year had passed since Jin had last seen Jungkook, yet the memory of his brother's boyfriend was as vivid as ever. Jin had thrown himself into his work, pouring his heart into his passion for music. Despite his success, he often found himself reminiscing about the moments he shared with Jungkook, grappling with the bittersweet feelings that swirled within him.
He kept his distance from Jungkook, believing it was the right choice. Every now and then, he would catch glimpses of Jungkook in town, especially when he visited the studio to see Jimin. Jungkook's laughter, his passion for art and music, and the way he had begun to heal made Jin's heart ache with both pride and sorrow.
But it was during one of those chance encounters that Jin learned something he hadn't anticipated. Jimin had approached him one evening, a glimmer of excitement in his eyes.
"Hey, Jin! Can we talk for a sec?" Jimin had said, leaning against the doorframe of the studio.
"Sure, what's up?" Jin replied, curious.
"I've been spending a lot of time with Jungkook lately, and I think he's starting to open up to the idea of moving on," Jimin said, a smile playing on his lips. "You know, he's starting to see me in a different light."
Jin's heart plummeted at Jimin's words. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, I think he might actually have feelings for me. It's a little complicated, but I can tell he's been enjoying my company. I think I have a chance," Jimin said, his voice full of hope.
Jin felt a surge of conflicting emotions-panic, guilt, and a sense of betrayal. He had always believed he was doing the right thing by keeping his distance, but now he found himself torn. Could he really stand by and watch Jungkook move on with someone else, knowing that he still loved him?
As the days passed, Jin felt an internal struggle grow. He would see Jungkook's art featured online, hear stories from Jimin about their time together, and each tale filled him with warmth but also deep regret.
He loved Jungkook, and the thought of him finding happiness with Jimin both thrilled and devastated him. He had convinced himself that his absence was the best choice for Jungkook, yet the pangs of jealousy and longing gnawed at him like a relentless tide.
One evening, unable to hold back any longer, Jin decided to confront his feelings. He walked to Jimin's studio, his heart racing as he pushed open the door. The vibrant colors of Jungkook's latest painting flooded the space with warmth.
"Jungkook!" Jin called out, trying to steady his breath. Jungkook turned, his expression shifting from surprise to delight at the sight of Jin.
"Jin! I didn't expect to see you here!" Jungkook exclaimed, a genuine smile breaking across his face.
"I know it's been a while," Jin said, feeling the weight of the past hanging between them. "I just wanted to check in."
Jungkook's expression faltered slightly, but he nodded. "I've missed you."
Jin's heart fluttered at the admission. "I've missed you too."
As they stood there, the familiar tension filled the air, a reminder of the bond they had shared. But as Jin glanced around the studio, he felt a surge of uncertainty. This was Jungkook's space, a place where he had begun to heal, and Jin was an intruder in that process.
"Jimin mentioned you've been spending time together," Jin ventured, trying to keep his tone casual, even as his heart raced.
"Yeah, we've been working on some projects," Jungkook replied, his eyes shining with enthusiasm. "He's been a great friend through everything."
"Good," Jin said, forcing a smile, though it felt heavy on his lips. "You deserve to be happy."
Jungkook looked at him, his expression unreadable. "What about you? Are you happy?"
Jin hesitated, the question hanging in the air like a fragile glass ornament. "I'm trying to be. Busy works-- helps, but..."
"But?" Jungkook pressed gently.
"But I've been thinking about you a lot," Jin admitted, feeling his heart race. "I still care about you, Jungkook. I always will."
The air thickened with unspoken emotions, and Jungkook looked down, his cheeks flushing. "Jin, it's complicated. I've been moving forward, trying to honor Jan's memory while also allowing myself to feel again. Jimin has been a big part of that."
"I know," Jin replied, pain lacing his words. "But I can't shake the feeling that I'm supposed to be here with you, not just watching from a distance. I'm sorry for leaving and for not being there when you needed me."
"Jin, you made the choice you thought was best," Jungkook said softly, meeting Jin's gaze. "I understand why you did it, but it doesn't make it easier for me. I've found some joy again, but I still have feelings for you."
The confession hung heavy between them, echoing the love they had once shared. Jin felt his heart leap with hope but also sink with guilt.
"I can't just let you go on without knowing how I feel," Jin said, stepping closer, his voice steady. "You deserve to find happiness with whoever that may be-whether it's me or Jimin. I just... I don't know if I can bear the thought of you with him."
"Jin," Jungkook began, uncertainty clouding his expression, "I don't want to hurt you or Jimin. I'm still figuring things out. I care about both of you, and I don't want to make a choice based on guilt or pressure."
"I get that," Jin said, his heart heavy with the weight of longing and regret. "But I can't stand idly by while you move on without me. I love you, Jungkook. I always have."
In that moment, the walls they had both built around their hearts began to crack, the love that had once defined them now entwining with the fear of losing each other again.
Jungkook's heart raced as he processed Jin's words. The past and present collided, leaving him breathless with emotion. Could he find a way to balance the echoes of love that filled his heart while exploring the new feelings blooming with Jimin?
But as Jin stepped closer, Jungkook felt a rush of panic. What if he chose wrong? What if he hurt Jin again by allowing himself to fall for Jimin?
Thanks for standby 🙂
