Prologue

For the past 200 years, at least 50% of the world population is born with an Extreme (Genetic) Variable Output or more commonly known as EVO. One day, children started being born with powers and soon became the driving force towards a greater future.

However, in 2075, a nationwide conspiracy is on the rise in Japan.

The world around him was muffled by water. Every breath was accompanied by a hiss from the oxygen tank. 

Red lights. A door opening. 

"What are you doing?! We must leave. Now!" A man yelled to the woman. He raked his dark wave of hair off his face, constantly looking over his shoulders. The boy couldn't hear him but he could tell he was wheezing nervous breaths with each passing second. 

"We can't leave him!" 

"We did everything we can! Nothing worked. We have to leave!" The man peeled her away from the workstation, a collection of pulsing lights and buttons the boy couldn't comprehend. The screen was blinking red, showing an alert. 

"No!" The woman yanked her arm out of his grasp. 

"If we don't leave now, we won't be able to escape. They know we're here!" The man was losing his patience but the woman failed to notice. Or she simply ignored it. 

"But our son will die! We have to save him. We have to do something."

"He has been dying for the past 10 years! There's nothing left for us to do."

"No, not yet." She took out a test tube from her lab coat. She activated the system and a capsule opened.

"Where did you get that?"

"This can save him." The woman was sobbing. She wavered as she walked over to capsule. One drop. One drop is all she needs and the capsule will feed it into the tank. 

"Where did you get that?!" The man wrestled for the tube. But his wife kicked him in the stomach, sending him sprawling on the floor. He yanked at her leg. Another kick, her heels aimed at his face. He leg go, nursing his bleeding nose. 

At last, the woman poured the red liquid into capsule. It closed. 

Immediately, the boy saw red. 

The alarms grew louder in his head. The husband and wife closed the door behind them. 

Shots were fired. Screams were heard. 

Then silence. A long, long, lonely silence enclosed on him. 

Then, darkness.
