He emerged next to Natsuhi.
"Kazehaya!"
He chose Natsuhi's injured left side. She didn't have time to lift her hand.
Kuroo wouldn't have time to form a barrier when he's this close. They waited for the split second where mutants would emerge from more portals.
It didn't come.
"You're hurt." The unnamed man gently placed a hand on Natsuhi's arm. "There are medical supplies over there."
He pointed to a line of shelves at the other side of the room.
He seemed harmless.
But Kuroo wasn't buying it. He kicked the man, causing him to land on his back . A box barrier instantly trapping him. Kuroo forged shackles on his arms, legs and neck, pinning him down completely.
It seemed to take the young man by surprise. His eyes darted and his hand made a slight motion. Kuroo forged more shackles pinning down his hands and another to cover his eyes.
"You try that one more time, we'll have you blended like that mutant we left back there," Kuroo warned, his nonchalant but menacing. He's had enough surprises for one day. He was getting sick of it.
"But she's too hurt to do that," he replied, his voice slightly winded as if he wasn't used to talking.
"What makes you think I can't blend you, hmm?"
"Because he's been watching us." Natsuhi tapped Kuroo's shoulder, making him look at the screen. It showed the room they exited earlier. The mutant muck now flooded the tiled floors. The other screens showed the hallway and other rooms. The rooms were filled with those grotesques mutants.
It also showed the room they were currently in.
"So, you're behind the attack."
"No!"
"Then, who are you?"
"I'm---" He hesitated as if the thought was something he had to search deep into the recesses of his mind. "I'm Keiji. Akaashi Keiji."
That name sounded familiar.
"Explain the portals!"
"I don't know. When I woke up, I could do it." He spoke in almost a monotone. His voice level and soft as if he forgot how to converse.
"And you immediately decided to send them to Tokyo?"
"No. Those things came here. I was attacked."
Kuroo grabbed his gun and pulled the slide rearward, letting Akaashi hear it loud and clear. "Now, listen. Don't play mind games with me. If you don't have anything useful for us, I might just kill you here."
"That would be against ACE Task Force protocols."
Kuroo narrowed his eyes. He even knows they're from ACE. How long has he been watching there?
Kuroo removed his barrier and pressed the muzzle of his gun to Akaashi's forehead. "Hmm, you sound like you know exactly who we are."
"Please, I'm sorry I couldn't open the door much earlier. It took a while for me to notice there were other people here. I--"
"Hah?"
"Kuroo-senpai. Look at this."
Kuroo went to look at the monitor. Natsuhi has found something.
Recordings. It was the room they were in before the pod broke. A mutant had found it's way into the room and started banging on the glass pod. It shattered, revealing Akaashi.
