_______________KIM ROK SOO_____________
Kim Rok Soo almost believed it again. He even started hoping, thanking whatever higher powers existed for giving him a peaceful life and a peaceful world. He had a lot of money, and while he lost his parents again, at least this time, he didn't have to suffer in an orphanage or under the care of unfamiliar adults. His parents in this life had left him a large inheritance and a capable servant who knew how to take care of him. So, he was almost satisfied.
Almost.
The gods must love him so much that they couldn't leave him alone, even in this life. For the love of lemonade, couldn't they just let him have peace for once? Wasn't it enough that they had messed up his first life? Did they really have to ruin this one too?
**"Was living through an apocalypse in my first life not enough for them?"**
Did they truly want him to endure that chaos again in this new world? He must be the unluckiest person alive.
How could the gods have such a twisted sense of humor? He had hoped for a peaceful existence, a chance to build a normal life after the horrors he had faced, but instead, it seemed they were determined to drag him back into the depths of despair and survival.
Every time he thought he could finally catch a break, they found a way to pull the rug out from under him, throwing him back into a fight for survival against unimaginable odds. Just when he thought he could kick back and relax, the universe decided it was time for another round of chaos-complete with popcorn and dramatic music.
Frustration welled up inside him, tears threatening to spill as he stared at the text floating in the hologram before him.
"God-damned," Rok Soo muttered, biting his lip in panic. The hologram flickered ominously, a glowing reminder of his predicament.
*Perfect, just perfect. My life has officially turned into a B-grade sci-fi movie. Cue the bad special effects!*
*Think, think, think. Calm down, Kim Rok Soo.*
The first thing he did was look around, assessing his surroundings and any advantages he could find. He was inside his car, the warm glow of the setting sun filtering through the window, casting a soft light across his lap. It was a beautiful evening-if only he weren't stuck in this nightmare. Outside, the streets were a cacophony of chaos. Cars honked angrily, their drivers spilling out into the street like panicked ants, while a few people were arguing about who was to blame for the jam. Was it too much to ask for a peaceful commute? Clearly, the universe thought so.
The scene was made even more surreal by the hologram hovering above, displaying a message that seemed to taunt him. People gawked at it in confusion, pointing and shouting as if they had just witnessed a miracle-or a curse. Rok Soo couldn't tell which.
His eyes flickered back to the hologram, reading the message again.
**"Kill one or more living organisms."**
Rok Soo muttered the words again, double-checking what he had just read and probably hoping is just hallucinations because of his tiredness but sadly he isn't hallucinating, he decided take a deep breath.
"Okay, anything living... What counts as a living organism? Humans, monsters, animals...? Is this a game show? Because I didn't sign up for this!"
"Do bacteria count as living organisms?" Rok Soo asked himself, feeling a bit foolish. He sighed dramatically, realizing he had gone from an above-average college student to debating the existence of germs. Maybe he should've paid more attention in biology class instead of daydreaming about his future as a professional couch potato.
He looked around again, taking in his surroundings. He was in the middle of the road, more importantly, inside his car. Animals and insects had already been crossed off his list; there were no critters in his vehicle. He was sure of it-his servant always ensured the car was thoroughly cleaned, the interior shining so brightly that even the dust would be too shy to step inside. In fact, it had just been cleaned yesterday after he got home. How ironic, considering this whole situation might call for a bit of dirt. Just a sprinkle of dust could've made all the difference!
Rok Soo immediately grabbed his bag from the backseat and began rummaging through it, checking every pocket for something useful.
"I'm sure I have one in here," he muttered, digging through his bag like a madman.
*It's impossible that I don't have at least a small bottle of sanitizer." That scary person always puts one inside my bag. He even checks my bag every time to clean it and ensure my things are sanitized. What a scary person! How I wish he could also sanitize my life!*
Just as he was about to give up, Rok Soo spotted a small, cute bottle of sanitizer at the bottom of his bag. He really hoped it would work; he desperately wanted to avoid using his last resort.
With a sense of relief, he squirted some sanitizer into his hands and began rubbing them together, hoping it would be enough. The irony wasn't lost on him; here he was, ready to combat the apocalypse with a tiny bottle of hand sanitizer. If only he could sanitize his life too, right?
Outside, the chaos continued to unfold-people shouting, sirens wailing, and someone in the distance was definitely attempting to calm down an agitated dog that had somehow joined the fray. The poor creature was barking as if it were announcing the end of the world, or maybe it's really the end of the world, adding an extra layer of absurdity to the evening.
Just another ordinary evening in his so-ordinary life. He noted the sarcasm. How did it come to this? If he only knew that he was about to experience another apocalypse in this life, he would have enjoyed his slacking time instead of stressing over grades. Maybe even gone for a second helping of dessert instead of hitting the books. Who knew life could get so chaotic so quickly?
