Yaroslav sat behind his grand mahogany desk, fingers tracing the edges of the screen as Thea appeared on the monitor, unaware that her every movement was being watched. Her delicate hands worked on a sketch—another one of her designs, he presumed. His eyes lingered on her face, a look of unguarded concentration gracing her features. It sent a ripple of dark satisfaction through him. She was beautiful, fragile, like a work of art he'd locked away for himself.

A knock on the door startled him out of his reverie. He quickly minimized the surveillance feed and composed himself, adopting an air of professionalism.

"Come in."

Josh, Thea's father, entered the room holding a folder. He looked slightly nervous but firm as he approached the desk, extending the documents toward Yaroslav.

"Mr. Zolnerowich , here are the necessary transfer papers and a few documents that need your signature."

Yaroslav's brows furrowed in apparent confusion as he reached for the folder. "Transfer papers? What is this about, Josh?" His tone was calm, but his mind was already spinning, calculating the best way to maintain control.

"We've decided to move to Russia," Josh explained, his voice steady. "However, there's been a delay with our visas. The move has been postponed for a few more weeks."

Yaroslav nodded, feigning interest as he quickly scanned the documents. "I see. It must be quite the transition for Thea. This must be difficult for her." His tone was filled with false empathy.

Josh hesitated for a moment, as though weighing his next words carefully. "Yes... but we'll manage. Thea will be living in her college dorm once she starts her classes."

Yaroslav forced a smile, though inside, he was already growing irritated by the idea of her being out of his watchful eye. "That's wonderful, but considering the delay, I wouldn't want Thea to feel unsettled during this transition. I'm leaving for Russia myself soon, and she could stay in my place while I'm away. She'd be comfortable here."

Josh's expression tightened. "That's very generous of you, Mr.Zolnerowich , but Thea will manage just fine at her dorm. She's looking forward to the independence." There was a firmness in Josh's voice that Yaroslav noted.

Yaroslav's jaw tightened imperceptibly, but he kept his face calm, his smile undisturbed. He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. "Of course, Josh. I just wanted to offer what I thought would be helpful. Let me know if anything changes."

Josh gave a curt nod and turned to leave, clearly eager to end the conversation.

As soon as the door closed, Yaroslav's smile faded. His fingers tapped restlessly against the desk. He had no intention of allowing Thea to slip away into the anonymity of a dorm room. He would find a way to keep her close. After all, he had every means at his disposal—and no one, not even her father, would stand in his way
