THEA SMITHI hate mornings. Why on earth would anyone want to get up this early just to go to college? Wearing my white shirt with a light blue sweater and dark blue pants (I wanted to wear white, but I'm too scared), I raced downstairs for breakfast.
"Honey, please tell me if you need anything, okay? I've left your allowance on the table, and your dad might be late today—he has an important meeting tomorrow. I'm heading out now," my mom said hurriedly as she rushed off to her shift. After finishing my breakfast, I decided to walk to my favorite café.
Once there, I ordered my iced coffee. As I was leaving, I bumped into someone. My heart rate spiked as I twisted my ankle, earning a moan from me. Bracing myself for the fall, I suddenly felt hands around my waist, preventing me from hitting the ground. I opened my eyes to see Mr. Zolnerowich.
"Are you okay?" he asked, concern clear in his voice.
"Uh, yeah. Thanks," I mumbled as I quickly separated myself from him.
I tried to stand, but a sharp pain shot through my left ankle, causing me to stumble straight into his arms again.
"It doesn't look like it, Thea," Yaroslav said with a frown before he scooped me up in a bridal carry. I shrieked at the suddenness of it.
"Wh-what are you doing?" I asked, flustered.
"Taking you to the hospital. It could be serious, for all we know," he said, the frown deepening on his pretty face.
"It's fine, Mr. Zolnerowich. It just got twisted—it didn't break," I tried to assure him.
He sighed, looking at me briefly before placing me in the car, my legs hanging out as I faced the door. One of his bodyguards—at least I assumed—held the car door open as Yaroslav knelt in front of me, gently taking my left foot in his hands.
"It's alright, Mr. Zo—"
"Yaroslav," he interrupted, making me frown in confusion. He looked up at my face and chuckled lightly before adding, "Call me Yaroslav, Thea. I'd like that."
I nodded slightly as he carefully removed my shoe. He twisted my ankle a little, causing me to let out a small scream.
"Okay, this is going to hurt a little," he warned before turning it again, making me cry out in pain.
Afterward, he stood up and helped me to my feet. Holding both of my hands, he gestured for me to walk. I took a few cautious steps and sighed in relief when I realized the pain was mostly gone—just a bit of discomfort remained.
"Uh, thank you for that," I said.
"Anytime," he replied. "Though, I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. And about your coffee too," he added, frowning again.
"It's no biggie. I'll just get a new one," I said, shrugging.
"No, I insist. Let me buy it," he said firmly. I just nodded—hey, a free drink is a free drink.
We walked back into the café, and he asked for my order. After he got it, he handed the cup to me as we stepped outside. There was an awkward silence for a moment before he broke it.
"So, you come here often?" he asked.
I nodded. "Yeah, every morning."
"What about you?"
"I usually don't. My assistant does, but today I had to fire him for incompetence," he remarked, clenching his jaw.
"Well, I'm kinda surprised you remember me," I said, half-joking.
His expression softened as he looked at me. "Of course I do. I never forget a pretty girl," he said with a light smirk.
My face heated up as I blushed. "Uh, well, thank you. I've got to go now—I'm kind of running late!" I said quickly.
"College? The XXX one, right?" he asked.
I looked at him in surprise. "How do you know?"
He chuckled, amusement gleaming in his eyes. "You told me at the party, remember?"
I frowned before the realization hit. "Right."
"Do you want me to drop you off?" he offered.
"No, no, it's fine. You don't need to worry about it," I said, trying to wave it off.
Usually, I meet Ava here, and we go together in her car. Strangely, she wasn't here today, and I hadn't gotten any texts from her. Weird.
"Please, let me. I still feel guilty about your ankle," he insisted.
"Oh, come on, it's all fine," I protested.
"Please, I insist." After a lot of persuasion, I finally gave in and settled into his car. He sat beside me, and the driver started the engine.
"So, how's college?" he asked.
And just like that, conversation flowed between us as he drove me to campus, not before shaking my hand and apologizing again, even though I told him not to worry about it.
YAROSLAV ZOLNEROWICH
I looked at Thea as she walked to her college,
*sigh*
When she was in my arms all I wanted to do was hide her and then run away from everything that's happening, I did not mean to push her that hard but all was good in the end.I sigh as I remember I have to go back to Russia for 3 days due to the stupid mistake my assistant made, well he did repay it when I killed him this morning.
I wasn't sure about leaving Thea alone hence the tracker that I brought is now in her phone, when I was looking at her ankle Nikolai smoothly took her phone and added the tracker, now I can see where she goes all the time, 10 of my guards are situated outside her house following her, giving me the reports on who she is talking with, where she goes.
Now all I have to do is wait, for three days clean this shitty mess up and then make her get close to me as simple as that
"Few more days butterfly"
