It was that time of the year again, Batman letting out a sigh from how many new hero's seek to join them. Batman hearing the banter from his like minded peers as he watch Martian Manhunter introducing the next person, He's been making mental notes on each hero's capability and powers as they demonstrate themselves to the entire room. Nothing stood out to him; he push aside what occupied his mind since he woke up, it's been a few months and he still couldn't get over Harley leaving without saying goodbye. looking down at a tablet device full of notes as they introduce more members. Everybody got quiet when they heard a familiar name being announced from Martian Manhunter "Harley Quinn." Batman look up from the tablet having his attention drawn to her immediately.
"Hey everybody! I know my reputation isn't the best, what I've done back then, I finally got the nerve to join the Justice League." Batman thought she hadn't spot him until that moment they both lock eyes forgetting his outfit wasn't hard to stand out. He didn't know why her eyes seem to spark more as she spoke. "I want to become a hero...I know my history isn't a click away these days. Some of things you have heard about me is definitely not true. When I thought I was not redeemable, someone I know told me I'm capable of being more than what define me by my past. Even if I can't make up for what I did, I can at least change and become a better person." Batman began hating the Daily Planet and Gotham Globe at this moment ignoring the eyes on him, that didn't stop his mind racing and he knew as Batman he couldn't allow himself to lose his mental focus. "Harley Quinn. Can you show us what'll you're capable of doing." Manhunter voice taking away any tension from the room as Harley continue to look at Batman as she wave at him, "Sure can mister green man." Harley look up to see him getting up to leave.
'Why can't you just get over me Bruce?! No I'm wrong, I'm the one who's showing up in the one place he's away from Gotham, away from me.' Harley got recruited, letting herself be excused as left the room waiting for her to leave, she exited out the room hearing them already gossiping as she saw Green Latern and Flash hanging out to to her right. "Hey guys, you see Bats around?" Flash smirking at her, "Don't tell me those articles about you guys are true. No wonder he's been gloomy, and a lot more of a grouch." She felt guilt but she knew in her heart why she did it. "Look, that's why I want to talk to him. Please." He raise his hand to a direction, she thank him as she walk away. Not wasting any time in her searching for Batman until she found him by a coffee machine, it was a strange sight for her to see him in his costume being casual while filling up a cup. He seem lost in his thoughts until turning to look at her because they both knew each other to well, he seem to hesitate at his chance to leave her this time.
"Bats! I haven't seen you in a while." Batman grip the coffee cup hard, Thankful that it wasn't full as he watch her walk toward him not allowing himself to look away. 'You're not Bruce Wayne...damn it; Why now Harley?!' As she approach him gently putting a hand on his wrist, "You're going to spill more of your coffee if you squeeze any harder. Are you okay?" She was right. He got napkins to clean up his mess with his peripheral vision making it hard to not see the blonde dyed hair of Harley helping him out. "I hope you can forgive me Bats." As they continued to clean the floor, Batman looked at her. "For what Harley? You have your right to leave whenever and you owe me nothing. Just know I'm happy that you're doing okay." They both got up to throw away the use napkins into the trash, before she could ask him to join him.
Batman cape is what she saw before completely disappearing into another hallway. Harley realize the cafeteria was more crowded than expected, Cat Woman along a few other heroes got to watch them without somehow making any noise. Before she let Cat say anything to her, she went after Batman again.
