They sat atop a hill. The sky was colored soft pink and purple, the sun falling behind its clouds.
He turned his face to the dark haired girl next to him, they sat shoulder to shoulder, elbows to knees as the sun set before them.
He watched as her green eyes glowed in the camp fire that burned in front of their feet.
The lace from her white dress slid down her right shoulder exposing her golden skin, his eyes following her fingers as they pulled the material back into place.
"You know there's nothing like this anywhere else in the world." The girl spoke suddenly, her eyes closing as the light from the sunset passed over face.
"The hills, the grass, all this endless sky. Been all around the world but never found a place that shows a sunset like this anywhere, only England." She smiles softly, leaning back against her elbows, eyes closed, head tipping back before sighing and turning her somber eyes to him.
"You know the worst part of all of this is that I am home, and at the same time I'm not. It's all completely different yet exactly the same." she sighed again, brushing her dark hair to her shoulder then gliding her hand across the blades of grass next to her.
"Even you," she smirked and gave him a playful shove "remind me of home or at least what home felt like.'' she finishes somberly, her green eyes dimming in sadness.
He tries to speak, tries to comfort her, but he can't.
He has no voice.
"You promise to come back?" she asks but he still can't speak.
He turned to face her, the sun had set and the fire light bathed her skin in an orange glow, her green eyes now filled with unshed tears.
He tries to tell her that he will come back, that he would always come back but he has no voice.
His lips move but he hears no words. He takes her hands in his and tries to squeeze but feels nothing, not even the scorching heat that runs beneath her skin.
"You'll come back for me right Thomas?"
"Thomas!!"
A hand shook and pinched at his shoulder and Tommy quickly shot his arm out and shoved it away.
His breath ran ragged for a few seconds, the dream slipping away and a headache replacing it, opening his eyes to the voice that continued to demand his attention.
"Thomas, what the fuck do you think you're doing?" Polly questioned vehemently, brown eyes filled with rage that Tommy only sighed away as he passed his right across his face, shut his eyes tightly and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Pol, not now," He grunted, his left arm numb but warm and heavy.
He opened his eyes again to Polly's narrowed and outraged expression staring back at him and he sighed again, sinking his head back onto the pillow.
"Thomas, get out of this bed right now!" Polly snapped harshly, smacking the back of his head first then his shoulder, until Tommy caught her hand before she struck a third time.
"Polly stop!" he grunted as she swiftly yanked her hand out of his grip.
"Your little brother is asleep in the next room and you are in this house, in bed, with a girl you're not married to! Have you lost your fucking mind, Thomas Shelby?!"She spat out in a heated whisper, stepping back and pointing her arm towards the door.
