(Y/N) woke up early the next morning, about six am or so. The sun was about risen by this time. Looking to her right, Gwen was fast asleep with a face mask on, David on a cot he pulled out between the beds. A pang of concern went through (Y/N) as she recalled the flurry of questions from Gwen and her when he pulled the cot out last night after dealing with the campers. It'd been so sweet of David to let her sleep in his bed, when she'd found out that he'd given up his bed to her, (Y/N) tried to give it back to him, offering to sleep on the cot instead since she was new. However, David had insisted that she sleep on the bed instead.

It was sad to say that, David giving up his bed for her was one of the nicest things a man ever did for (Y/N). It both touched her, and saddened her at the realization. An open window reminded her of the summer chill of the night through her pajamas, a small shiver prickling down her spine. The cool night air give her an idea. David was pretty cute after all, both personality wise and physically, so she decided to add a playful comment before getting into bed.

"If you get too cold on that cot, you're welcome to bunk with me." (Y/N) commented in a moment of confidence, her eyes on David. The burst of courage quickly dwindled as she looked away and got into bed, her mind swimming with regret and disapproval of the decision. As (Y/N) turned away and settle into the given bed of David's, she missed the flustered, wide-eyed stare from David, and the red hue that climbed onto his pale cheeks.

Today was the 'Lake Lilac Summer Social', a big party of the three camps around Lake Lilac, the other two camps- The Flower Scouts, and Wood Scouts- coming together at Camp Campbell for fun. The day was mostly preparation for the party, setting up refreshments, activities, music, snacks, balloons, confetti, tables, and flyers put up for everyone to see. The party was to be held in the Mess Hall since it was the biggest building at the camp. (Y/N) quickly realized why the boy, Max, who interrupted her 'interview' tried to burn it down. The entire thing looked cheap, in fact, 'cheap' described every aspect of the camp, the mascot was a wild platypus for heavens sake! Gwen and her had later sorted out the actual paperwork and background check (Y/N) had to go through before actually being able to work with them, which was easy enough. David used a bit of paper and crayons, making the flyers by hand while humming the camp theme song to himself.

As it turned out Gwen and (Y/N) shared a love for trashy drama and fictional romance books. There was a lot of talk and debate over what authors -both online and pen- were great and made better romance novels. Raving over their favorite book characters as they set up alongside David.. who had no idea what they were talking about but was happy to have help. David was just a ray of sunshine after all, he didn't know about dark romance, the appeal of monsters or anything like that, and (Y/N) wasn't about to ruin that for him.

Gwen showed (Y/N) around the camp, the Mess hall, Activities Field, the Docks, the Theater, the Campers Tents, and lastly the Counselors Cabin.  Gwen seemed to be the more mature one, handling the camp's more financial and realistic demands. Keeping a clipboard with the schedule and daily activities on it, she kept things running smoothly. Both Gwen and (Y/N) agreed that David was a good guy, but very naive and optimistic. (Y/N) promised Gwen to help out as much as she could with everything she did, making Gwen give out a thankful, and tired smile.

The day flew by in a blur of preparation: sarcastic comments from Max, (Y/N)'s introduction as a new counselor to the campers, and getting acquainted with each of them. (Y/N) always had a love for kids, so those like Harrison, who signed up for magic camp, was delighted when she took an interest in his tricks. Or Nerris, who was pleasantly surprised when (Y/N) playfully went along with what she was role playing. Nikki took an immediate liking to (Y/N) just for humoring the green haired animalistic child by petting the platypus, why and how Nikki got the creature to allow her to hold it was a mystery, one (Y/N) wasn't sure she wanted to solve.
